Epic (in length) tracks; tell us about your favourite

Just remembered another one I have, not yet mentioned by anyone, though its interest is the story and its telling rather than the music.
Alice’s restaurant by Arlo Guthrie from the album of that name (more correctly the track title is Alice’s restaurant massacree) 18’36”

Well, for Emerson, Lake and Palmer fans there are…

Tarkus
Pictures at an Exhibition
Karn Evil 9

I haven’t sifted through this entire thread, but isn’t In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (baby) the obvious choice here at 17:05 - that was near the limit of an entire album side in those days.

Hen I think of one to post and can’t remember if posted before, in order to avoid duplicating I use the search tool, which has an option to search in the currently open thread…

Ordinary People (NY) is a good one, and you want it to keep going. Haven’t heard it in a while. Will have to dig it out for a spin. Just received his “new” Oceanside Countryside LP, now almost 50 yo.

Another I played yesterday: Secrets of angels from the album of that name, by Karnataka (20’).

Weekender by Flowered Up. I liked it so much, I bought the original 12in, the Andrew Wetherall remix and the VHS video.

Helpless Child by Swans; an epic requiem on their last album of their first 15 year phase of existence (Soundtracks for the Blind).

The last human gateway (20’) - probably my favourite IQ track, from their first album Tales from the lush attic

The same album has a 14’ track, The enemy smacks

The new IQ album is out soon. I think it has a 20 minute plus opener :sunglasses::fist_left:

From Steven Wilson - Hand Cannot Erase - 11:30 long

Track 5 - Home Invasion / Regret #9

No one’s mentioned Miles Davis - All Blues from Kind of Blue at 11.33 and So What, Freddie Freeloader and Flemencoe Sketches are all over 9 mins!! No list of epic tracks can ever be complete without including Kind of Blue!!

I am being inspired to try some of the other great mentions here too - playing Keith Jarret, Koln as I type so thanks for all the great inspirations!
