DB is dearly beloved ie Suzy’s partner. It means that Suzy will need to look after cats and therefore cannot attend a gig in April. I can see why you found the wording tricky!!

LOL, but no. Our three will be at home with my wife, while Dad goes on a jolly to spend some money on “Hobby no. 2”.
But the following w/e, Sue will be off to London to look after Daughter#2’s two cats while said Dau & partner go off to a wedding.
