Ethernet cables - YOUR LISTENING Shooutout Summary

That was all before Sigma came along!

I think you are right, the catsnake seems to be direccional.
If my mind isn’t playing tricks on me, it plays much better with the letters going in the direction of the signal.
I will let it burn in for several days.
Thanks for the advice.

I have here a EE 16Switch - MeiCord Opals (within the HiFi) throughout. Woken things right up, in a very good way, just like the old days, i’m so impressed so far!

Happy Weekend!:hugs:

Just saw incoming EE 32. Read you next

Joking aside:

I may invest in one of those Chord Ground Aray RJ45 thingamajig’s for my now ā€˜isolated’ zone 2 on my EE 16. A far more elegant solution than those bulky EE+1 filters methinks…

These things are easy to try and return, so nothing to loose.

I use one and I know someone who occasionally posts on here who uses two on our EE8s. I’ll be interested to hear what you think.

Burn in isn’t changing the Catsnake performance in my system.
I believe the problem is the bass, so muddy/undefined that affetcts the rest.
Case closed, lesson learned

Slight disaster in that whilst buggering about with plug sequence behind the Fraim stacks (don’t ask), I managed to knock both EE1+ and associated Music streaming cable off it’s perch. The result was crackly sound, drop out - definitely not right. Hmmm. Quick call to Chord who said send both over to them and they’ll have a look.

In the meantime, I was loaned a Catsnake (CAT6) cable to connect PhoenixNet to KDSM so that I wouldn’t be without music for a few days, which was very kind. And, wow! What a discovery! All cables are not created equal. Catsnake was truly awful in comparison and has been politely handed back with me saying that I’ll be spinning a bit more vinyl for a couple of days.

Catsnake is the worst ethernet cable I’ve had in my system. How some can find it performing great in their systems is a mystery to me. Maybe they need to tame a forward sounding system :man_shrugging:

It was quite nicely made

I needed to reposition my Hive hot water/heating wireless sender and used previously tested/rejected Catsnake.
The hot water is as clear as crystal, not at all muddy as it was on the hifi.

Jus sayin’ :joy:

The Catsnake reminds me the 80’s, when I had a Denon integrated with an equaliser to boost the bass. I was not an audiophile at that time.

Out of all the Ethernet cables i’ve used:

AQ Cinnamon (full loom).
AQ Vodka (full loom).
BJC Cat 6a (full loom).
CatSnake (floating) last leg.
Chord C-stream last leg.
MeiCord Opal (full loom).

MeiChord Opal are easily the best i’ve tried from that list.

Are Meicord still in production?

My favourite in your list too.

I have used and ranked as (top to bottom) - all last leg.diamonf

  • sigma
  • Diamond
  • Vodka
  • Chord Clearway
  • cinnamon
  • Catsnake

But catsnake got no chance to settle in as I like the diamond I had so much more.

Meicord was also on my list - never tested it. Heared much good about it

Re …..

&
Pete.T ….. Are Meicord still in production?

Me too ….. I have 1m MeiCord (Cat6) from NAS to Switch & 4m from Switch to NDX.
Due to MeiCords resistance to tight bends, and not wanting to bugger it up, I have 2m of the softer BJC Cat6 from Router to Switch.

I believe the 2 engineers who founded MeiCord have not continued with production, but do intend to restart at some point. Some supplies can be had at some www vendors.

TBH after a few years of fairly intense testing and experimenting, I’m just plain simple relaxed and content with what I have.
Also during my experimenting years I tried a lot of internet filtering, none did anything, most did less than nothing, but I will try an EE1-Plus in the not too distant future

I have a 2 metre Meicord which was a definite improvement on whatever I had before. I was looking for a shorter length which is when I noticed they weren’t available. According to the net there’s potentially a new version in develpment.

Since almost 4 years…..not sure we will see a Meicord 2. The Meicord is the best cable for money. You have to pay 10 times more to see a real improvement.
Of course, as always, my opinion..
