Eurovision. Serious competition or....?

Well I think we know which one must be the fruit…

Oh dear. Wasn’t great was it?

Oh goody. The voting.

Oh no! I’ve run out of beer.

Looks bad when not even the professionals vote for us…Or most of the other ‘Big 5’

Yaay 2 points from Norway. Always loved the fjords.

For the avoidance of doubt, I’ve gone to bed.

Good plan

But you’ve missed the exciting climax…

…or maybe not :grinning:

Nope. Business as normal. I’m just glad that as I get older I get less angry about how daft it all is and allow myself to enjoy the mayhem.

Congrats to the Coldplay clone.

Goodnight all.

Unbelievable.

They really should cancel the public vote, the judges were far closer to the real talent.

North Macedonia, Czech republic and Sweden were really shortchanged.

I though France would have done a hell of a lot better, not because I liked the song but the ‘dempgraphics’ which thakfully don’t seem to be as influential this year, but what a dire winning song.

:small_blue_diamond:Ooops…We have two Eurovision-threads,one in the Music Room, and one new here,…weird…Why…Anyway…

Sweden won the jury’s voting,.but not the people’s.
But it was close

/Peder🙂

Its entertainment - if it was a serious music competition I would cry

The public vote added some fun. And I agreed more with the public vote on Sweden (where I live).

I wonder how the performance of Madame X had been placed if it was part of the competition.

I’d have been happy for maybe half a dozen of the acts to have won in all honesty, but I just cannot believe the Netherlands won it - maybe this is why I’m an old hi-fi loving dinosaur, but I don’t think that reflects my tastes which are very diverse from opera/classical to pop, rock/prog, jazz, electronica but not the banal song that won tonight. Sour grapes perhaps with little or no consequence but the disparity between jury and public votes is striking yet again.

I’m confused, when did Isreal and Australia become part of Euro? If they can enter by some arbitary qualification then why aren’t the countries of the Middle East or Africa invited?

My country going ape***, “we” won after 44 years. Also, props to the Icelandic band for standing up.

Congratulations, sorry for disliking the song, perhaps it’s a grower.

Hey no worries, I don’t care about eurovision at all. Song quality is declining year by year, some are just impossible to listen to. It’s like, whoever has the least bad song wins.

100% No matter how unforgettable I expect a lot of Heineken + Amstel + Grolsch & combinations of these & others are making many heads wish it was all forgettable this morning.
Holland is the party capital of Europe & no better place for some party fun.
Enjoy, now how did that tune go, what was it called ???
Veel plezier

I thought it was a ‘freak show’ promoting pornography and masquerading behind the fact that it’s ‘all about the music’ with which it clearly isn’t…

It’s to do with membership of the European Broadcasting Union more than anything I believe:
