Initially posted on the Pix from the listening position thread which, of course, this technically belongs to, however I thought I might ask if you have been in a similar or more critical situation?
I missed the previous charger due to roadworks and my error at about 15% and as the next one appeared near enough I thought I’d reach it at about 5%. Not advisable, especially on a cold evening but still got there!
9% has been my lowest, but that was to check out the battery warning lights on the infotainment system when I first got the car, plus having a home charger, it wasn’t a problem. Good to hear you got there!
I think it has been around 10% when on a long journey. I like to leave a bit for user error, traffic/roadwork diversions or having to find alternative charging points etc.
Most of our journeys are from home, and when we return, we charge on the home charger, with no intermediate charging.
Apparently my wife’s i3 amusingly shuts things down at low levels. First the speed is restricted then the heating goes off and I think finally it even lowers the headlight intensity! I have never got to that level but it is almost tempting to try it and see what happens before It gets part ex in January.
Not sure I have got below 10% in either of our EVs. Run out of petrol in ICE cars though, last time in my old Triumph Stag with its hilariously non-linear fuel gauge. Once it got to about a quarter full it dropped like a stone!

My Hyundai brought me home in ‘turtle-mode’ serveral times.
Turtle-mode😁

Do remember the i3 limiting things down in survival mode! It’s always been rather precise in predicting range though.
Once I got home at 1% dropping to 0% as I reversed into the garage in the Jaguar iPace. I had a 20 mile safety margin most of the way home (from Aberystwyth) but it evaporated over the last 30 miles home
Now that’s a cool!
May I ask how full people charge their battery when charging at home? Ives set the car battery to stop at 80%, but wondered if I’m being overly cautious. It’s all a bit new!
80% is the recommendation, so you are fine for everyday driving about, obviously if going on longer journeys, holiday’s etc, charge to 100%.
How are you finding the experience so far.
Be aware, insurance companies are starting to change the T and C where EV vehicles charged at the property invalidates your house insurance.

70-80% is spot on for so called NMC batteries, though you can safely go to 100% occasionally if you need the extra range for a long trip.

We are really enjoying the car. It has a couple of glitches, largely around the alarm but as a way of getting around it’s great. I’m gradually working out what everything does and have now mastered the adaptive cruise control, which works really well.
How come ?
