Exciting new music

Here’s an outline about what this category is all about latest and greatest new music

Isn’t this already covered by the other numerous music threads - CDs, vinyl, jazz, folk, etc etc?

I suppose the question is, “is there any exiting new music?”

And I really don’t know the answer…. My most recent CDs have been Gilmour, Hawkwind, a couple from some chap called Clapton and Antonio Vivaldi! What does that say about me?

I would look forward to listening to some “exiting new music”, so bring it on!

Define your thread title. What do you mean by ‘new’.

The exciting (or not) will follow.

What does exciting mean in this context? And is that new to the listener, or new as in very recently produced?

The live Oasis album will be available soon…

I was hoping for suggestions of new albums people might recommend. I for instance have been listening to new stuff by artists am I very familiar with ie Dave Gilmore and Nick Cave and artists that are new to me like Nala Sinephro and Plantoid.

Will there be an 50000 strong queue for it online, and will the price go up as they run out?

I would suggest that the latter criteria be the most appropriate.
But even the former could be interesting (especially for those of us who “don’t get out much” )

I think this ought to be about new artists producing new music that is in someway interesting. Hunting around the internet or in your local record shop if you still have one, there is a lot of interesting music being made. The UK jazz scene, is shaking off a lot of dust and mildew from this genre.

Here are a couple of women who have impressed me of late.

Rising by Jasmine Myra. Relaxing, wonderfully played jazz by this young musician and her band. Pretty accessible to those who do not listen to Jazz. Getting a lot of play right now.

This is a rather strange but pretty unique record. A ghostly overdubbed voice choir dominates this fascinating record. Pretty hypnotic, and nothing like you have ever heard before.

Many of my posts on the “what are you listening to” thread are new releases. But I listen to far more new music than I ever post (I forget, or am on wrong device).

I find these days I’m just as likely to seek out something new each morning as I am to revisit an old favourite.

Tidal’s “Daily Discovery” feed helps some, but I find more good stuff by clicking around on related artists etc.

Tidal also has genre based playlists which are regularly updated (such as Wildwood Flowers for Folk/Americana). I check those weekly or so.

To be fair he has his daughter Romany singing in the album and I’ve not heard her before.

What’s exciting to one listener, could be as dull as ditch water to another.

What this community needs is a commonly accepted rating scheme to apply to album/song threads, eg. A (excellent) to F (rubbish). For example, my rating of the latest Gilmour offering would be E - others would give it an A :yum:

This is a good listen, old school soul/R&B but still sounds contemporary

I would give it a C- but I’ve only listened to it twice so I get want you mean!

I literally can’t read that at the top of the album sleeve. Care to fill me in?

Looks like Thee Heart Tones to me.
