Having spent the last couple of months replacing very old Witchhat Audio speaker and interconnects in our system, addition of an XPS to support our CDX and a lovely pair of 1999 Intro’s,the only final flurry was mains supply and that was taken care of with Power Line Lites and. Russ Andrews Power Block.
All these changes tightened up what we had and made listening sessions longer and more interesting when it came to rediscovering CD’s that not been played for whatever reason for some time.
It was a thorough tidy up and paid off, but I have also had a hankering for a 250 ever since having a CB model in the eighties, reviews and the forum pushed us towards the 250 DR which was duly purchased to replace our 200.
All connected up on the day of arrival and left in situ for hours before a serious listen , very underwhelming was our first reaction, and we closed off the session. No night and day experience as was our expectation, but 48 hours later we began to understand what the 250 was doing. Albums that were played were not our favorites but once we may have dismissed now made more sense, for example the album Loose Talk by Bryan Ferry and Amelia Barratt was now making sense (spoken word/ music accompanying), the two elements now making sense.
Glad we stuck with it but it proves that expectations in reality can take a little longer to come to reality.
