Rising by 25 metres might be a more worrying map.

One way to combat rising sea levels might be to promote whaling… though I’m not sure that would drop them by 1,000 metres.

I can see Mexico is labelled, but I can’t remember which of the Colonies to the north of Mexico are Spanish, French or British. I think the map makers should ensure they make that sort of detail abundantly clear.

Or, as was posted in 1992 by a Scandinavian poster:

“Don’t understand all the fuss about Columbus.

(I hasten to add that the middle clause was somewhat more pithy and has been “moderated” as this is a family-friendly forum.)

Having watched James May explorers episode 1, it seems Columbus was in the Caribbean but didn’t set foot in America.
I like to believe what James says, he is entertaining.

I understand that that is indeed the case (Hispaniola springs to mind), but I think he made further voyages across The Pond.
