If I could have back the money I spent on Courage Best I could probably afford a Statement system. :flushed:

There was another Courage advert for JC which had the wonderful line “a dog barking somewhere in Sussex can be heard in a village in Kent”.

Yak yak rabbit rabbit etc

This ad was so popular in the long hot summer of '76 that it became a hit single. Lord David Dundas wrote the jingle (he also wrote the C4 and TV-AM jingles and co-wrote the score for Withnail & I.

Do they still make Brutus jeans I wonder?

Also, does anyone remember those epic Woolies Xmas ads of the 1970s and 80s? So many products, it was impossible to take them all in.

I never knew that!

Though the brand name just reminded me of the ‘Brut’ ads: “Splash it all over!”

Brutus jeans and Farah trousers. Winning combination.

15 year old article from The Graun

Funny was going to post that yesterday. Great single by David Dundas as you say Lord Dundas.
Brutus jeans and waistcoat essential garb in 1975.

Still made in Hong Kong I think.

Interesting fact… the author of that article, Sam Delaney, is son of Tim Delaney, who founded the Leagas Delany agency (B&W, the Royal British Legion and Patek Phillipe are among their clients). Sam is an Iron, and I used to see him a lot in the Bobby Moore Lower back in the days of the Boleyn and we used to chew the fat about the ad business.
