Favourite Bond Film

Totally agree, Casino Royale with Daniel Craig, then followed by Dr No.

One of my favourite ‘Spitting Image’ sketches showed a dressing room with a big star on the door and inside was Roger Moore lying on the ground completely lifeless apart from one eyebrow moving up and down. A stage hand rushes in and shouts ‘Oh no! He’s got Roger Mortis!’

I’d reserve my judgement until I’ve seen the next one. If it’s the same basic
formula then I think maybe it would be best to retire, however… they did
bring Phoebe Waller-Bridge to do a little writing and it seems they had
planned a change in tone.

I hope they can find a way to continue it without a tired, misogynistic
leering bond but at the same time not losing the weary and cynical
twist.

As to who, it won’t happen (because he’s probably too old) but I’d
love to see Idris Elba given a go at it.

I think I could only narrow it down to a few:

  • From Russia with Love: see reasons above
  • You Only Live Twice: the villain’s lair is in a volcano, for goodness’ sake - how much more Bond can you get?
  • The Spy who Loved Me: see reasons above, but especially the submarines, filming at Faslane and reminding us that Bond is a Royal Navy officer (see also You Only Live Twice).
  • Moonraker: the early bits with Drax being snooty and megalomaniacal are far better than you remember. Ignore the Star Wars rip-off ending, obviously.
  • For Your Eyes Only: The best Moore, intentionally and excellently ripping off From Russia with Love.
  • Goldeneye: It has its flaws, but Brosnan really restarted Bond after a fallow few years and showed that you could laugh with the cliches without turning it into a parody of itself (as happened in the worst of Moore’s efforts).
  • Skyfall: the early Craigs don’t really do it for me, but this is where they finally felt comfortable having fun and let Bond be Bond rather than trying to be all gritty and Bourne.

Disagree at your leisure!

Thanks for the recommendation, however, I have seen all the Brosnan films just so I can have an opinion. Maybe I’m missing something or maybe it’s because I’d made my mind up I didn’t like him as Bond.
Sophie Marceau however, FAF.

Biggus Dickus.

I know which is my least favourite, On Her Majesty’s Secret Servive. Horrible, an Aussie playing James Bond, what were they thinking.

I’m a big 007 movies fan. Have all of them. To me Daniel Craig’s Bond corresponds closest to the image which I have created based on the books. So I will vote for Spectre. An interesting selection of actors was done.
