It disappeared last week. Unsure why. Maybe at the request of the OP?

It was a pension thread, that quite often strayed into a financial thread.

It was doomed when it strayed into taxation, which is a shame. There was some useful pension information in that thread.

Maybe ask for the SIPP thread to be reopened if you want to discuss financial matters.

The problem of course is it’s so easy to stray into political territory when not intended (mea culpa on occasion).

I wouldn’t consider taxation in itself political if the discussion was factually about the current rules, and an objective explanation of their effect in certain scenarios was given, but all too easy to allude to positive or negative consequences on an individual level which might be seen as political even if any of the parties might make a given change.

Which is very easy to do of course due to different effects on different individuals whoever made a change/rule.

Was tempted to open one around Crypto. Listened to the Diary of a CEO podcast last night with Raoul Pal as a guest. Was thought provoking to say the least. Tempted to dip my toe in.

There was a long running Bitcoin thread here a few years ago. Now that it’s been around for a while its popular appeal has diminished somewhat as mainstream financial organisations have embraced it. For some time, prices have become more aligned with traditional markets as a result. Obviously things have kicked off again very recently. I suspect manipulation by certain ‘influencers’ may be involved but best not to go there!

Well I had a thread disappear……and it was about “what is the difference between a pickle and a chutney”.

Hard to find anything political in that topic ….for sure, lettuces didn’t get a mention. Oops!

I’m not surprised it didn’t last long.

In the more affluent areas of Salisbury, both pickle and chutney are slang for a couple of Class A drugs.

That was probably because I dared to criticise your wine choice. You weren’t remotely upset, but there seem to be some who Iike to get offended on others’ behalf and seem to like stirring up trouble.
