Financial thread

At least it wasn’t Barefoot.

:grinning::grinning::grinning::grinning::grinning::grinning::grinning:

(What’s even funnier, is that on first reading I read “Salisbury” as “Sainsbury”)

I plead the fifth! Sue had put it in the Tesco weekly!

So did I!

The worst wine I’ve ever tasted is Barefoot Jammy Red. I suppose I should have thought about the name before buying it on offer. It was so disgusting I couldn’t even use it in cooking, nor could I give it to people in my line of business *

*Too complicated to describe.

I actually wonder if the OP might have requested deletion for any number of reasons as they seem to have become an anonymised user. If you can’t remember who originated the thread I suggest not speculating, if you can probably best not to comment and respect their decision.

I may be incorrect of course, and maybe something contravened the rules.

I was guilty of breaching forum rules around that time in another thread, inadvertently perhaps, in reference to something entirely different but in hindsight it was using an example which would potentially have looked political - even factual/observational comments can be out of place in the context of forum rules. Had I not been tired and enjoying some Oxford Landing it may have been different

There, that’ll be the end of this thread as it is clearly political given that you have mentioned Oxford but not Cambridge, which I assume is the reason for the mysterious disappearance of the picked chutney relish thread.

Absolutely. Oxford is a dump.

Unlike Hull

Or Barrow-in-Furness…

Just for info, the thread was quarantined because it (inevitably) encouraged some members who should have known better to veer into politics. At the same time, the OP closed their account so it became an orphan thread with no “author” and hence did not return.

Harsh……but it does have an “interesting” traffic system in the centre. Sue picked up a ticket for a wrong turning when trying to find Daughter#1’s college at the end of term.

Well quite.

I wonder if The FCA fancy lifting some fresh text from this morning’s independent report of them for their corporate strap line? “Incompetent & Dishonest” perhaps?

That was my fault. I apologise. I quarantined it to remove a bunch of ad hominem posts and then instructed to move it back, but it seems the move did not “take”. I can only think that it was about a week or so ago when the internet here was dropping every few minutes and so my instructions got lost with the loss of connection. It should now be back in the lounge.

@HungryHalibut I read this thread and your comments inspired me to join the Wine Society! Very much enjoying the wine and no longer need to buy from a supermarket.

Apologies for thread drift.

Stocks, especially US seem to keep going up, expect a choppy ride in 2025 as valuations are ridiculously high.

Fabulous. They have lots of really good stuff, at good prices from longstanding relationships with producers. As they say, enjoy!
