Difficult to say really as firmware is ready when itâs signed off and there are always lots of things that can cause unexpected delay. Last I heard it was undergoing listening tests.

It is to be hoped that 3.13 will fix the problems of album art not displaying on the NDX2 and shuffle being enabled without human intervention.

Iâm âhappyâ to hear that someone else has the problem of shuffle being enabled without human intervention. This because Naim support canât replicate it. I sometimes think that it has something to do with the fact that I use the app both on my iPhone and my iPad. On which devices do you use the app?
I donât recognize your problem of album art not displaying on my NDX2. You have not turned on Settings > Other settings > Display, and enabled the option for Display off during playback?
I only use the app on my iPhone to turn the radio on and off. The shuffle problem happens when streaming from the NAS or Tidal, via my iPad. The display shows when using Tidal, but not the NAS. I have referred both problems to Naim support, to be told that they canât replicate them so itâs my fault.
The fact that we both use the iPad app might be the leading to the source of the problem. I donât know. Maybe having an enlarged iPhone app on the iPad might be better? It is an app issue which will not be solved by new firmware, however.
I use Android, and that annoying shuffle thing is certainly present on my ndx2 at times. Only last week, I found myself confused when an album was not playing as expected. Guess what, shuffle was on. Hate the function, no idea why anyone would really want it.
The album artist has decided how they want their art to be curated/ordered. I liken shuffle to going to an art gallery and rearranging an artists work!
Anyway, dont hold your breath with random shuffle being fixed. I dont think naim recognises the issue.
Could shuffle button be completely disabled/enabled in the settings menu ?

I agree that itâs probably an app problem causing shuffle to turn on. The display problem only appeared when I upgraded to 3.12, so thatâs a firmware problem.
I have suggested to Naim support that an option to disable shuffle is required. If you stream classical music there is no way that you want shuffle to activate.

A disabled function would be useful. But itâ clearly not a priority for them, in case it upsets the SQ!
So I spent a car or twoâs money on a sound system, get superb SQ, but have to check the iPad every five minutes in case shuffle has been turned on.

I canât imagine how turning off the shuffle and repeat function can impact SQ?

Naim will be well aware of the additional SQ work after any FW change now. Previously any link between FW change and SQ would have received minimal attention, but not now.

Iâve repeatedly been told the shuffle issue doesnât exist by both Naim and other members on here.
That said I almost always use my iPhone now rather than switching between that and my iPad and I havenât seen it for ages. I thought maybe one of the firmware updates had fixed it but perhaps it is caused by switching between devices ?
My issue was with my ND555 so it isnât exclusive to the NDX2.
Naim highlighted the shuffle â buttonâ a few FWs ago, making it easier to see if it was selected. The option to remove it, and perhaps the repeat â buttonâ from the screen is a good one.
The shuffle issue I and others experienced was nothing to do with inadvertently or accidentally selecting shuffle. You could finish one listening session with no shuffle and when you started the next one the shuffle feature would be enabled.
