Hi,

Hi,
Just installed firmware 3.10.1. Just wondering if there are any release notes?
Bye Jan.
Yes here it is.
There are none.
There’s the release notes inside the app, which are shown before the update.
Someone has a screenshot here:
Still doesn’t fix borked Chromecast on my Nova, so unimpressed.
But here’s the thing - ChromeCast does work with other people’s Novas (including mine), which suggests that the problem may have something to do with your set-up.
Did you try the things FrancisR tried and described on the other thread (and that ultimately resolved his problem)?
Can you described the problem in more detail than borked? Can you turn ChromeCast on in settings? Does your Nova show up in Google Home? Can you connect with a cable even if just for testing? Can you ping the Nova from a computer?
Thanks for the patronising reply.
Nova diagnostics webpage shows Google Cast is authenticated, service is running and ToS accepted.
Nova Chromecast appears as a local device in the app. Settings can’t be changed (no gear icon) and so can’t be removed from the app. Assigning to a room simply results in the instance going offline and a new unassigned instance reappearing. Repeat ad infinitum.
Factory reset (on previous firmware, not latest… just returned from 270 mile round trip to Heathrow so no opportunity to factory reset again, but don’t feel inclined to do so) doesn’t resolve issue as it did on my Muso Qb2 (on previous firmware version).
It beggars belief that the previous versions of the firmware got through beta testing, let alone this version.
I had that happen with my Muso 2 earlier today (before the firmware update) when I had a Chromecast issue. But it was not a firmware issue as the Muso had worked before with 3.10 (or is it a different number for the Muso?). I had to do a factory reset, but the gear icon returned. And after that, Google Home found my Muso, and I can Chromecast to it again. In the past, I have had to try more than one reset on occasion (not often).
Edit - as per the other thread, I also had the problem of two of my Naim devices falling out of Google rooms. Does this happen immediately, or does your Nova stay in the room for a while (as mine did)? All I can say in that regard, is that the problem diminished and finally vanished over time. No firmware change involved. I wonder whether Google updated its software.
@Stevesky
Do you have some details about service release 3.10.1?
I installed it yesterday and I am wondering if my mind is playing tricks with me. My ND5 XS2 seems to sounds significantly better (at least to my ears). Is there anything in this service release that could contribute to better sound?
I was already happy with 3.10.0 and now I am even happier
Have you been away for the last month? There are hundreds of posts in several threads that should have read before deciding whether you needed to post that!
@davidhendon I am sorry, but I do n’t understand what I did wrong. The 3.10.1 version was released yesterday. It was just a question.
Thank you Naim. Wonderful work.
What I mean is that there were several threads, in particular the one about posters unhappy with the last firmware update with 2800 posts, where what was wrong, why that might be and what Naim should do about it was discussed endlessly. There were other threads on the same subject. Several of these threads comment about how the new firmware patch is better.
It’s always a good idea to take a look what’s been going on before you post a question like yours, if for no other reason than that you will get a lot more insights and answers that way and more quickly.
Describe your set up son. Have you unplugged the Nova from wall or powerblock socket ?
Well that’s troubleshooting 101. Go figure.
Just to note, I spent time yesterday and today, working with Naim tech support, troubleshooting my Nova in connection with an open issue about Chromecast and volume controls.
While that issue remains unresolved* - I sent them a video demonstrating the problem this afternoon - I can confirm that otherwise my Chromecast has not “borked” on either 3.10 or 3.10.1.
*And it’s not a dealbreaker as the Focal/Naim app can still control the volume. Read the thread if you want details.
@davidhendon My question was about 3.10.1, which seems to sound better than 3.10.0. I read topics about 3.10.0. No need to be so aggressive.
Merry Christmas.
3.10.1 sounds much better to me. I wonder if this has to do with the update itself or NDX2 needs some kind of resetting/rebooting from time to time in order to perform its best.
Good to hear that you also hear an improvement after installing 3.10.1. Your point of the reboot also crossed my mind. I do n’t remember hearing a difference when I installed 3.10.0. Anyway, I am happy with this version.
