@rcsm I feel with you - also had been there in some weak moments. ks1 is a very good option (if you want less bass), but in the end it might bring a different signature as you are used to (maybe even better).

I did own two Naim ND5XS2s a while ago then the firmware update rolled out, I think it was v3.10.
I no longer own a Naim streamer and moved to Innous.
Innous have released several updates over this time and not one of them has altered the sound, it has remained consistent.
One I have been using for a few years is a Neotech NEET copper cable that sounds good but was not very expensive for an audio-focused ethernet cable… I got it from Hi-fi Collective.
Yes, I have both of these and the KS-1 is very balanced and lets the music live and breathe much better than NACA5 in my system.

I agree with your findings on the change in sound and I understand your frustration. I have the same experience and I made some changes to my system to improve the SQ (adding an Chord EE1 plus in between my Dela switch and my NSS 333 and changing the volume settings) which helped a bit, but the SQ is still not at the same level as it was with the previous FW.
I repositioned the speakers because of the added thickness to the sound but the sound i now have is not engaging, it is sterile as the bass/midbass is not tight and agile.
I could have this kind of “SQ” with a much cheaper non naim system. What a mess, so much trouble to tune my system with the previous firmware and this stupid upgrade i didn’t ask destroyed everything.
Stupid burndies, stupid fraims, stupid firmware upgrades, stupid hi-lines, stupid and sterile sound. I lost my faith.
The LOUDNESS firmware upgrade, best way to describe it.

Calling everything stupid does rather make you look like a six year old. Are you stamping your feet at the same time? Maybe Naim is no longer the right thing for you.

I am not calling people stupid. I do feel stupid, for having bought some products from Naim.

Since almost everybody loves this FW update, it seems, maybe something went wrong with your update? Have you tried full factory reset or contacting your dealer to see if there is something that went wrong with the update process? Apologies if I missed one of your previous posts.

On my 222/300 combination I notice that lower voices are more difficult to understand, as if there is some sort of distortion going on. I started becoming aware of this after the installation of 5.4. A power off/on didn’t help so far.
This song is now sounding especially bad.
I’m not noticing that at all. I’ll give the album a spin (Tidal 16/44).
Edit: Lyrics seem easy to pick out on this track. Good clarity on instruments and nice atmosphere and sound stage. I’m assuming you are listening to a digital download?

Yes, I’m listening to this song on Qobuz or to the digital download from Qobuz. The issue remains, a humming sound in her voice, especially in the beginning of the song. I thought of a resonance in our room, but then the remark about the thickness of the sound attracted my attention. I appreciate your feedback.
