First post and a CD player question

Congratulations on your newly acquired CD5 and Flatcap 2.

I know you are asking about the puck. But, if you haven’t done so already, please be sure to remove the second transit bolt from beneath the player, as well as the one that locks the drawer. (By mistake, I didn’t and damaged mine.)

Enjoy your CDs.

Thank you. I did remember to remove both bolts (seller also pointed it out).

Thank you for the reminder in any case.

My final CD player was a CD5/FC2 combination. I got rid of it when I discovered streaming. Two sources: a Roon endpoint and a Pink Triangle.

Sounds great, I’m sure. You must love it.

New puck has arrived. Fast and reliable service by Cymbiosis, Leicester.

Works much better now, @Richard.Dane

Thanks again.

I have a CD5 and HCap combo, owned it from new in 2003. Naim replaced the mech and serviced it back in 2020. Great service as I thought it was dead in the water. Luckily they were still able to sort the mech and I can get a few more years out of it. Still sounds lovely and stands up well to my Innous Zen mini Streamer. Different presentation but just as good.

I spoke to the super helpful Naim support, who were able to confirm the work undertaken on the CD5 and FC2 before I purchased it.

Similar to what you’re saying, I was also assured that mechs can still be fixed even in this day and age.

I have to say I absolutely love my CD5. It sounds superb in my system and I’m so glad I went for it.

I’m amazed how good a 22 year old DAC still sounds as the CD5 does not have a digital out.
