Flapjack and cappuccino!

In the 1990s i had one of my 531c Reynolds frames completely repainted at Argos Racing Cycles (argoscycles dot com) in Bristol, this include a white and yellow two tone fade, and the forks re-chrome plated. A wonderful job, better than new.
A few years later i was daft enough to sell it, regretted that decision ever since…

Thanks yes Argos seems to have a very good reputation. Thanks for the advice and sorry you sold your rather splendid bicycle and regretted it. Do you have any pics? Be interested to see what it looked like.

The photos are on 35mm & prints somewhere - before the time of my digital camera progression.

I had two custom built frames made in the early 80s, one road race bike finished in a beautiful metallic emerald green, and other almost the same spec frame but with mudguard clearance and eyelets. Originally the ‘training bike’ was finished in a metallic brown so it would look inconspicuous when left padlocked in a rack up the town, or usually in the work bike-shed. This plan seemed to have worked… but later when using it for winter training i wanted something more cheerful and that would show up better on a gloomy day.

Been riding through Denmark with my girlfriend the last days. Ferry from Oslo on saturday. Arroved in Copenhagen sunday morning. Heavy rainfall and even heavier headwind. It stopped after a few hours.
Next two days we had headwind as well. But happily no rain. Six to eight hours in the saddle each day. Tailwind for the first time today. What a pleasure. :grinning:

52 miles today on gravel bike. Sectors of stony trails and rutted tracks with some muddy single-track interspersed with road segments to connect everything. Hard🥵

I had no idea this thread was about bikes - nothing in the title to give it away!!

This is my MTB (an e-MTB). Well, not mine, but my model - mine is disguised so that when parked anywhere, particularly when on back of campervan, it doesn’t shout out what it is:

Orbea Rise M-Ltd. The lightest e-MTB available (or was in early 2022 when I bought it - not sure if the very latest version just released might be a tad lighter). I find it a superb go-anywhere bike, on or off road. On-road its only limitation is the low highest gear limiting my max speed to under 30mph pedal propelled (e.g. gentle downhill) and that not for long.

I’ve fitted mine with mudguards and rear carrier (Old Man Mountain rear axle mounting) for maximum flexibility. I use it regularly for leisure/exercise on forest trails etc, plus exploring/mobility when campervanning. Longest ride so far three months ago was just under 70 miles on hilly roads (over 7000ft elevation gain), with just over 80% of the combined internal+supplementary battery used (max 540Whr), riding to conserve power. On more normal use I guess its limit on internal 360W battery is around 45 miles on hilly tracks + roads.

It was horribly expensive, but the pleasure it has given has made it worth every penny. (Just seen same 2022 model a lot cheaper being flogged off by one UK supplier - sadly no small available or my wife might be tempted - she isn’t at list price.) With the rear carrier it is good for visiting vineyards in France, easily able to carry a dozen bottles as well as day out paraphernalia!

This is a secret society of flapjack munching coffee slurping lycra wearing weirdos with bicycles, we don’t want just anybody to gatecrash, you’re very welcome but please keep it in confidence.

Nice bike btw :coffee: :moon_cake: :yum:

Thanks!

Can I still be a member if my cycling is largely lycra-free with no cycle ‘jerseys’ (but there is a bit woven into some stretch-fit things), and my capuccino and/or flapjack consumption infrequent, but definitely a weirdo?

On balance, yes

Grand day out with a mate in what appeared to be sunshine. York, Knaresborough
Harrogate, Collingham, Tadcaster and back. Sneaky flat white and a Bakewell.

Used my Zullo XCR steel bike. Such a sweet ride, should use it more.

Sort of echoes events of a few days ago! Just goes to show how the determination of true champions can overcome adversity to hold it altogether and go on to win! Impressive gold, almost as impressive as Tom’s. A great race and well deserved win for Remco who now makes it two golds after an impressive podium at what must have been an exhausting Tour. Even Poji said he needed to take a whiff after the same three weeks of racing. Great stuff and one to watch as he matures further going forward. Another “pocket rocket” and natural bike rider.

A nice 80km today. 40 on the road out to Littlehampton. Then, struck inland and did the South Downs Way back to Brighton. Forgot how steep those SDW hills are !
