I’ve never even seen engineered wood with just 2mm wood surface. It must have been very cheap. 4mm is the standard minimum and very often 6mm. The surfaces of these 4mm and thicker surfaces are treated deep into the surface which makes them very hard and wear resistant. I have a piece in front of me now and I can’t get my fingernail in it or scratch it. It’s harder than varnished oak.
