FOMO - stuff you though you might want to buy…

Thought seriously about getting one of the runout CD5si’s, several at quite good prices, but…… then I’d have to buy another Fraim Lite shelf, perhaps another Fraim Narrow Rear Leg, resist the temptation to get a PowerLine and hide every time I saw a SuperLumina interconnect on the ‘bay.

And have I actually missed the ritual of playing a CD since I parted with my CDX2, actually no :person_shrugging:.

So it would appear I haven’t missed out at all. Of course, as always, YMMV.

I’m not shure why you even started this thread. You say you seriously thought about getting a CD5si and than also say you don’t miss playing a CD.

So really, a meaningless thread.

Do any threads have “meaning”? Not sure why it’s required. It’s a discussion forum full of random thoughts. We all have them.

CD5Si sounding lovely in Asgaard on a Sound Organisation 3 tier with lavender lead and Powerline lite…

It would be better placed in the thread “ i swapped the Moon / Qtest for Cd5si.

Provided you’ve time to read over a thousand posts.

Actually an interesting topic. I think it might have partly been FOMO that prompted me to grab a Nait 50. But that did work out well and I’m really glad I didn’t miss out.

I guess FOMO is responsible for me upgrading my 222-300 to a 332-300and 333-300.

How, well, I had the opportunity to listen to an NVC TT and an NPX TT, comparing it against a couple of phono stages and the Aria I had decided to buy. Within the context of an NC system for me, getting it was a no-brainer. The only downside was that my LP12 with it sounded so much better than the streamer section of the 222; having a listening session where I swapped between records and streaming no longer worked. So the inevitable happened, and I now have a system where the two sources are of a similar level. Certainly different but equally good. An expensive afternoon, especially if you take into account the subsequent pre and streamer changes and extra NPX, but totally worth it to me.

So for me, it was more stuff I thought I didn’t want to buy, but I wanted to hear the NVC, and to my surprise, I spent what I considered to be a ridiculous amount on a phono stage and have been very happy with my decision.

We were driving past Hinton Ampner this afternoon and thought about popping in for a couple of cream teas. Mrs HH said she’d rather go home and have a cup of tea and a slice of toast. So that’s what we did.

We are all human and especially talking about hobby it’s hard to go full logic.

My Fomo is a Garrard 301 – love my Naimed LP12 but I know everyone is having great fun with the 301 and no turning back…

Mine was the Solstice turntable. I bought it completely blind. One came up (complete) at a very good price and from a very respected dealership and so i just had to have it.

There’s been a couple teething troubles along the way but all in all it’s turned out to be of a beneficial learning curve. No regrets here whatsoever. In fact it’s re-enlightened my musical pleasure, so much so that i’ve decided to treat it to a new pre-power amp. I look forward to the years ahead of playing records and having fun!:innocent::+1:

My current FOMO is a B&O Beosound 9000. I don’t need it as I rip CDs but it’s such an iconic work of art, I’m drawn to it !

My Dad sold his a few years ago for a song…pleaded for him to keep hold of it but he wasn’t having it.

It sounded fab although the RedLine speaker were a serious limitation.

Edit: might have been a Beocenter 9500 but it was a work of art anyhow.

A wondrous thing indeed.

I Googled, to learn that FOMO is a fear of missing out. An odd construct, but I suppose of explains the OP’s opening post.

People have suggested I should upgrade to 552/500. I celebrate JOMO in that regard.
