Football Season 2024/25

Impressive. I last looked at 1-3 so that’s a bit unexpected.

Worth looking at the highlights for the two Sainz goals. He is a bit special.

I’ve seen Mullin repeatedly pull off that second goal but that first goal was magnificent. I always prefer team goals to individual strikes but there are some of the latter where all you can do is applaud the te hnocal prowess and that was right up there for me.

Interestingly, overall what caught my eye more was Ben Doak and your keeper.

The concession at the near post was awful and he appears to have a clear feet issue i.e. he wants to use his hands for everything and is getting into a right mess trying to do so.

The thing with Sainz is the regularity he scores these long range goals. He scored a similar one against Liverpool in the cup last year.
I’m surprised we’ve just given Long a three year contract when we have at least three very promising young keepers in Barden, Mair and Reyes. In a supposedly transition year especially. I’d rather watch youth make mistakes than somebody who’s never quite made it.
I’m told Middlesbrough this year are a bit hit and miss but they played the best football I’ve seen at Carrow Road this year.

I’m reading about Reading FC. Apparently there’s a kind of civil war taking place and their fans want the owner, Dai Yongge, to go. Their slogan is ‘leave fast, Dai Yongge’.

I’m watching Tamworth v Huddersfield in the F.A. Cup.

It’s a contest between a National League team and one from League 1, so, understandably, it can hardly really be classed as a proper football match, can it?

After all, not one single example of clutching one’s head diva diving into the Astroturf.

No time wasting to speak of.

The ball travelling generally in a forward direction by the team in possession.

Players getting clattered and getting up and just getting on with it.

Loads of pushing, shoving and elbowing at corners, without any of the whole arm loving embraces we see in proper Premiership games.

What on earth is wrong with these players, don’t they ever watch Premiership games, so that they might learn how to conduct themselves on the field of play in a proper manner?

Or maybe it’s time that those overpaid Premiership prima donnas should take a long overdue good hard look at themselves.

Do we need to stage an intervention to get you off the other thread?

Maxi was of course once the Wrexham keeper. Very good too bar a weakness on crosses. He sorted that out and rose up the leagues but appears to have developed a recent case of the Danny Ward yips.

The Mighty Whites were in complete control of the game this afternoon at Elland Road, easing themselves up into second place with a 3-0 win.

Plymouth offered little in the way of any resistance, with no shots on goal taken, and you have to feel some sympathy towards their travelling fans, who have a long journey home after such a disappointing showing.

Still, onward and upward.

M.O.T.

Never a dull moment with this current Norwich team. Losing two goals in the final five minutes is a bit careless to say the least.
The injuries and red card last week are starting to test our lack of quality squad depth.
A lot of fans criticise Kenny McLean but when he is absent we lose a great deal of competitiveness in midfield.

All too often a Norwich game isn’t over until it’s over.

If games started 15/20 minutes in & ended in the 85th minute, we’d probably be top of the table.

To much to expect 4 wins from the last 4 games, but 3 draws & a defeat is extremely disappointing. We seem to have lost that winning feeling &, at the moment, it is looking like a long search to find it again.

Cardiff manager has been trying to persuade Tan and co. that’s he’s the man for the job. It’s as impressive a caretaker spell as I can remember but still they resist.

To add more joy to the day Josh Sargent may need surgery!

This is Norwich. We can’t just win or loose. There has to be further drama, usually to our detriment.

In adversity we thrive!:crossed_fingers:

Game over by half time. 2nd half was simply game management and an opportunity to rest players before we travel to the New Den on Wednesday. Always a tough game. Plymouth were as disappointing as any team I’ve seen at ER. I’m not sure why clubs appoint Rooney, there must be a reason but Meslier had nothing, zero, diddly squat to do for the full 90 minutes (xG of 0 apparently) which is a damning stat.

I’m sure Tan will be saying ‘yes, but it’s only Norwich you’ve beaten’…

All his results as caretaker make an outstanding case for permaneht appointment but Cardiff are being impressively uncommunicative. They appear to hsve stumbled on a manager impressing everyone bar them.

In the meantime I’m increasingly concerned by our FA Cup tie this afternoon. They have a good record against us and I’d be concerned if we put the first team out. Mullin will play at some point because he’s still searching for match fitness but we never do well when we put out a scratch team.

Hoping to see James Jones and Anthony Forde as both recover from personal tragedies. Astonished that Jonah in particular hasn’t festured this season when we’ve had midfield injuries which begged for his recall. We shall see.

Bad vibe confirmed then. Picked absolutely a team which could not win. Keeps picking Dobson and Rathbone in midfield and refuses to accept that Rathbone can’t play with Dobson and both offer nothing. Wasted 60 minutes before partially fixing it. Ah well, mid table in the league to focus on now

Just got back from the match. Mullin is still way off the pace and no one in the midfield did enough.

Well done Harrogate, at least they tried and stuck at their job. Best of luck in the next round.
