Can’t say I’ve ever been less interested in the FA Cup than this year - thanks FA and Sky. Honestly glad we’re out of it so we can concentrate on the league - that needs to be our focus if a play-off place is to be achieved.
Sore throat and a bit of a headache this morning after a wonderful day out at Brentford.
My daughter has now been to 3 Argyle matches over the years - Wolves, Watford and Brentford. We’ve always won and never conceded a goal. Saving her next visit for Wembley, obviously.
Whisper it but the no replays thing might just work in these later rounds.
Was hoping the Daggers might pull off an upset but sadly it’s not to be. On a broader issue another half empty ground for a local derby, a David & Goliath cup tie is another example of the FA down grading a special competition.
I suspect a very good appointment by Luon. He’s very good. More importantly Wrexham AFC fans are rubbing our hands with glee. The Wycombe team he’s built are very good indeed but one can only hope the wheels come off a tad at such a crucial point in the season.
Indeed Mike, we shall see how things settle but Matt must be looked at as a ‘grower’ and will hopefully be given time to turn things around. First game is Preston at home so fingers crossed to see how the team reacts and performs after another backroom clear out this week. Wycombe fans might not be as happy with the news as you are
They were our opening game on our return to L1. Unlike our rabbit in the headlights opening against MK Dons in L2, we started very assured and were almost shocked to find ourselves 2-0 up before they came back and we eventually got over the line 3-2. At the time expectations were that we were playing a likely mid table team. Thus many of us saying “10th to 15th will do just fine”. It must be said that even then they were big, strong, fast and knew exactly what they were doing. The more we looked back at it the more impressive our performance became and the less surprised we were by their league position.
I suspect he could have got them up but whether that was top 2 or the play offs would have been down to luck with injuries etc. as he was working with a relatively small squad. I would imagine the attractions of Luon would be the ability to spend at least a little money; slightly better squad size and the possibility of the new stadium work.
