Football Season 2026/2027

Shrewd, in the sense of the club’s interests? Yes. Good for integrity of the game? No. Will Solak’s behaviour soften or harden the attitude of other clubs and their fans towards Southampton over this spying saga? I strongly suspect the latter.

I don’t disagree. I suspect a lot of other clubs have a lot to hide though. It’s very interesting that these rules don’t exist in Europe. When British teams are in European competition does anyone seriously think those European clubs are not spying and that British clubs aren’t doing the same?

Well yes but there are few owners across the 92 with any concern for the wider interests of the game. I include our owners in that. Whilst in the NL, let’s be blunt, our owners bullied the NL into creating a streaming platform. Everything they predicted about its success was spot on but their modus operandi was bullying and their sole interest was the club they owned.

Desperately trying to not be angry.

Club moving to all digital season tickets after a season of digital and physical. You have the option to request physical if you can make the case for doing so. For accessibility reasons I made the case.

My reasons have been accepted but:

  • suddenly there is a £10 charge which was not mentioned before the application was made.
  • you have to collect in person. Okay if you live in Wrexham. Rest of the UK not so much.
  • accompanied by a warning there may be no physical option in future.

As far as I can see, the only reason to want a physical ticket (beyond nostalgia) would be for accessibility reasons. The granting of one is effectively a reasonable adjustment under the Equality Act. So, you’re expected to pay for your own reasonable adjustment!

Words about to be exchanged.

We had the same experience at Norwich last season. New system wouldn’t let me in on three occasions and others had similar experiences. There’s also great difficulty in passing on your ticket to a friend if you are not able to attend. A real case of club before customer!!

If it was early season, the new system did you a favour.

I must admit the second and third time it happened the level of entertainment wasn’t foremost in my mind.

Have just clarified that the only grounds for having a physical ticket are for accessibility. So, it’s a reasonable adjustment and therefore illegal to charge under s20(7) of the Equality Act.

I feel some firm communication coming on.

It could be a lot worse, and we are in the Championship. Player spending is no guarantee of success. Look at Stoke, 7 or 8 seasons out of the PL, unlimited funds and mid-table at best. Just enjoy that we’re competing again at a high level.

He’s never going to sack the manager until the FA enquiry has finished. It will be a tough season at Saints, difficult to attract players and a roasting at every away game. Putting it all on the interns is disgraceful and shows great managerial weakness.

Eh? Very limited funds all the way through. Massive operating costs issue. Limited revenue throughout and about to get far worse as PSR is replaced by SCR.

So, er, what I said then…

YES!!!

The pint sized porn peddler is gone from my club!

Apparently jumping before some bad headlines are released

Allegedly… let’s hope his useless kids don’t get their claws into the club…

A poison chalice but lovely to see him back.

Interesting night for Wrexham fans. We get to see all three of our poorest players last season - Moore, Broadhead and Ward - plod against Romania but, more importantly, the sight of a finally fully fit Libby Cacace against England.

The first of what I suspect will be many more revelations and not just around Saints.

Sad to hear of the premature death of Kenny Jackett at the age of 64. Excellent and under-rated player. A pretty decent old school manager and coz j who even when unsuccessful always found ways to improve clubs and players before he left them. Went through enough clubs for many here to have interesting memories of him.

Always liked him for his wing play and the fact he was born in England but always understood himself to be Welsh. Head definitely screwed on the right way  .

Kenny was Pompey’s manager for three years when we were promoted from L2 and the club was bought out (from the fans) by the Eisners. He was hugely popular and always gracious. He’ll be remembered by Pompey fans for winning the EFL Trophy against Sunderland - a fabulous day out for 40,000 of us. I sometimes felt that the modern, stat-driven coaching trend in the game was not something he was comfortable with. Anyway, as a player and manager/coach he was proper gent. 64 is no age these days. RIP Kenny.

That was lovely to read. ‘I suspect he’s one of those people for whom there is little negative to say.
