He feels like a high class Aaronson.
Same level of pressing but an infinitely better creator/finisher I hope!!
He scores 1 in 4/5 games. Does set piece stuff. Tireless. Should be a real asset.
116 million for Anderson is insane. Going to distort the market massively the rest of the summer.
If I was being overly cynical I’d say it was another underhand tactic from Court Case FC owners, inflate the price so that it adversely affects your rivals. Equally guilty are the Spuds again massively overpaying for players don’t they learn their lesson buying players who are only agreeing to play for you because you’re willing to pay 25-30% more than anyone else doesn’t work?
I don’t think it’s anything specifically to do with City, Bob, but just another Septic 6 move to distance themselves from the rest of the also-rans.
Why would Tonali go to Spurs, who have finished 17th two years running? Because their income is higher than Newcastle’s by £5m (five million pounds) per week. So, they can pay higher wages. There it is, PSR in a nutshell. The games dead.
Nah. He’s been a Spurs supporter since he was a little boy, Andy…
I mean, how many bang average French defenders do we need? I assume we’ll be offloading some of them. And Chalobah allegedly…
Seems Maresca may take Gusto to City and Jose may take Enzo to Real. Those would bring in some added shekels.
It’s so funny fans of the Septic 6 (well 5 really excluding us) complaining about other teams splashing money
Especially since in the last season or so they have bought the league titles.
In our defence, we are a very healthy club financially, mainly due to Baldy and co. being rather cautious with money, shall we say. Now, we are looking to rebuild and have the dosh and the owners on board.
We actually have spent not a lot. Amongst out buys, there are a couple of freeby transfers, and, whilst I’m sure salaries are high, they won’t be much higher than the Septic 5 pay. Sadly, high salaries are necessary to attract the best players when you are not one of the ‘superstar clubs’ and you want compete in this world.
Or do the Septic 5 just want us peasants to keep our place, not compete and leave all the creme players to them ? Rather pathetic.
Currently all quiet on the Wrexham front but Parky tends to move late and let the club close deals whilst we’re on tour. The rumours around us are usually credible so I know we’re in the frame for Che Adams or Ellis Simms whilst we’re also trying to bring Patterson in from Sunderland. That would mark the end for Okwonkwo or Ward, which is interesting in itself.
We’re also in for Romeo Amane and the increasingly high profile Nathan Saliba. The signing of Terry Devlin from Portsmouth is likely to finally get over the line in the coming weeks too.
Except we’ve never paid higher wages - in fact our wage structure to date has been ridiculously low, hence our atrocious transfer dealings.
I certainly hope that’s about to change.
Because Spurs play in London. That’s a huge advantage when signing players - an advantage for most things really. Was there much interest in Tonali when you signed him given his issues?
“Baldy and Co.”
That’s funny, and has cheered me up this morning.
They’ll have to, otherwise he won’t sign.
Agreed, the ‘big smoke’ is a big draw for players (and their wives I would suggest), but money is the biggest draw. Greed. We paid this guys wages for a year while he was banned and swanning around the Metrocentre. We shall see what happens. Arsenal looking to talk to Bruno’s agent also. It feels like we are like a dead zebra with all the vultures picking at the corpse. Are the Saudis asset-stripping ahead of a possible sale?? I hope not…![]()

Exactly. This has been Spurs problem over the years. You gotta pay good salaries, this is a business and the players are workers so to speak. The best workers get paid the most in any business and ‘companies’ need to offer the best salaries and benefits. Clubs outside the Septic 5 are not so attractive for players searching for money and success, so the clubs have to become more attractive by offering even more - namely dosh.
Yes, Spurs have the advantage of being in London, but so are Arsenal and Chelsea, and we have been gazumped by them in the past.
Ironic that it’s OK for Arsenal to pay a British record 110 million (plus I’m sure a fat salary) for Rice, but we are distorting the physics of the universe by potentially paying 80 million for Tonali. (about the same as Arsenal are looking to spend on Morgan Rogers
, not to mention Bruno G., as @Andyblain reports above).
Some Arsenal fans are either blind, hypocrites or just plain stupid.
There have been rumors for a long time that Tonali is homesick. The problem is that no one in Italy can afford him.
Sandro, come to Spurs mate. There’s regular flights from London with Ryanair. You can be back every Saturday night !
Other sources claim the deal is worth up to £130m
Perhaps Tonali wants to try and win things as well as earn more money and he believes he has a better opportunity of doing that at Spurs don’t worry you will have the last laugh as you did with Isak, De zerbi will gone by Easter.
Your big problem is Guimares to Arsenal for £55 million.
