What is the first track you’ll play after the forthcoming firmware update; and why?
Basically whatever track was last playing. First thing I want to know is does it still work.

I’m in the current firmware sounds good to me. That being said likely some familiar Christmas music since it’s that time of the year.
Will there be a new group of 15% unhappy users and those complaining now being happy. I would be very stressed pressing the distribute software button at Naim. Very.

Knowing some devs and being part of a delivery team, I can say from experience that the Product Owner doesn’t give a go for releasing deliverables if testing is not good enough.
So probably the main question here is ‘What is good enough?’ 
Naim must deliver something that both camps hear as an improvement. I have a ND5SX2 in the office and it will stay as it is, I get my radio from MinimStreamer and I’m happy with it.
The PO (or whoever signs off at Naim) did the same releasing the current sw 
Every company can f** up no matter size and resources and given the discussions here I’m pretty sure there will be some added stress levels compared to normal “bug fixes/UI” distribution.
I cannot see they will release this patch the week before Christmas. A normal process would push this into Januari. We’ll see.

Thats the risk
At this stage it is better the devs take the time needed and make something that are really proud of.
I will decide when I have downloaded the firmware and restarted the streamer. Maybe give it some time playing a radio station before sitting down to listen to a few current favourite songs.

I’m away from my system until 3rd week of Jan, until then it’s just the MUSO which is fine. Since I had a change around of the furniture that the units sit on I haven’t noticed the cringing treble and generally muddled sound at higher volume (strange). I know curiosity killed the cat but I’ll be piling straight into the patch. My expectation is the sound signature will remain but be clean and stable.
What is ‘the forthcoming firmware update’ going to address?

Actual bugs that is known to Naim, and often also features. I have not read the thousands of mails in the I am not satisfied threads, but even with the few I have red nobody seems to be able to explain why or when or how their systems have been broken, while probably a majority thinks the latest public firwmare is ok. The sad truth in any software development is that only bugs that can be reproduced have a chance of being solved, if that is possible.

Updated my streamer 30 minutes ago….so far everything works……
