From NAIT 5i to XS2?

This is my first post in this iteration of the community.
I enjoy my 5i with Tannoy System 600s and a REL T9 sub woofer, source is Yamaha NP-S303 streamer. It is set up in our old summer house and my second system. The room has wooden floors and bookshelves and quite good sounding. Speaker cables are from Linn – K20 I think they are called. I also own NACA 5 but they are so difficult to arrange nicely.
Tried including photo below. Next week I will listen to a used Nait XS2 and see if I like it.
Cheers

Welcome. I have both a Nait 5i and an xs2. The xs2 shows an obvious improvement.

Welcome to the forum! …a lot of great product information and help can be found on the forum.

My first Naim product I purchased was a NAIT XS2 with a pair of ProAC D2D speakers using a NAIM NDX streamer for a source.

Okay so I bought the XS2 after hearing what it could do with Kef LS50s. Very impressive. Good strong bass and good at vocals.

Did you listen to the SN3? Albeit more costly, I found it significantly better.

No. I did not dare to. I got a good price for what seems an unused unit.

Splendid as they are far too expensive new

I installed the amp last Friday and had a good listen Saturday and Sunday and I am very satisfied. It’s much more sweet to the ear than the Nait 5i.

Actually i agree as well. The XS2 is in my opinion one the best integrated amps at an affordable price there is. Pair it with a with a Flatcap XS and it is even better, for not a lot of money. Pair it with a Hi Cap Dr and it just shines and shines, also for not a lot of money now days. I have had both combinations for years until i got an SN2. You will just enjoy it more and more…until you look for more :grinning:

I remember moving up from a Nait 5i to an XS and immediately noticed an improvement in SQ; more detail, more heft. The 5i, good as it is, sounded crude in comparison. I think the active preamp stage in the XS was a defining factor.
