I might be upgrading from my SN2 in the next year. I am looking at the NAC 332 and NC250. Has anyone made this move? can I expect a very big sound improvement?
Source is an NDX2. Speakers are Sonus Faber Electa Amator III.

Hi Daniel. I just went from a SN3 and NDX2/XPSDr to a 332/333/250/NVCTT. I have not done the power supplies yet. I have found the improvement to be huge. There is also a change in sonic attributes. More open. More engaging. More coming through about the performance. I retained my Rega P9 and CD5si. The change from the NDX2 to the 333, I find to be rather significant. I only have the system installed for less than 24 hours. I am sure things will get even better with time.
Thanks! My wallet doesn’t like the answer, but I do ![]()
If you want to spread the cost I would get the 332 first and use the SN2 as a power amp, then get the NC250 and finally the 333. The NDX2 is not a bad streamer and adding a S/H 555 DR PS might be worth considering as a cheaper option to changing the NDX2 and I believe you could use the 555 PS with a 333 when you can afford to make the change.
Have you heard the NC pieces you’re interested in? If not, probably wouldn’t purchase blind as sonically they do differ.
I have heard the NC250 (with a 222). I really enjoyed listening to it. It has power and grip on the speakers.
There are also some operational advantages of having the 332/333/250 together. My going with the 332 required that I have a phono stage. Hence the Naim NVC TT. I wanted everything to be series 300. The last cost was new racks. The new racks will allow me to add the power supplies when I want to. I ran out of shelves on my old racks. I ruled out the series 200 b/c I helt there might be a decrease in streaming SQ. However, that opinion is not universally shared. You should audition (home) if you are in the UK.
That’s a good start but I would want to hear the 332 as well, as from what I can tell the 300 series is more laid back vs the 200. Personally haven’t heard any of the NC 200 kit, as the local dealers I typically visit don’t seem to have the NC lines on demo. I’ve only heard the 300 series full kit demo once at a show & it didn’t do much for me. My thoughts at the time were it reminded me of Hegel & I’m personally not a fan. I’d be wanting to try any 300 series kit with your specific speakers to make sure the combo works for you.
hi @Jaybar, may I ask how you know this, given that you changed out the amp section too? Genuine question as I’m considering something similar to the path you went down, but possibly keeping the NDX2 and have it feed into the 332 and 250. TIA.
@JamesBKK The installer did not arrive until about 1 PM NYC TIME. I was listening in the morning with my SN3/NDX2/XPSDr. By the time the tech left at days end, there was a clear and vast change in SQ. Also I was very familiar with the OC system as I had lived with it more than a year. Hope this helps.
Thanks for this. So, just checking, you didn’t use your NDX2 with your NC amplification at all, right?
@JamesBKK No I did not. I made a clean transfer from OC to NC. No regrets.
