Furutech Discussion

Just plugged them in and I’m getting the same bright disconnected sound as I remember from the DSS4.1 speaker cables.

I once read in a review of cables that if you don’t like the sound of a cable when first plugged in then the warm isn’t going to change it to your liking. Well that reviewer has clearly never heard Furutech cables.

The burn in begins.

I have them on extended demo since seven weeks and all I can say is that they are very very good. I am not sure yet whether I will keep them but that’s more a synergy thing that the quality of this cable. Try listening to piano notes or viiling after they have been burned in for more than month. They truly show how an instrument sounds in terms of reverb. I am not 100% convinced yet about prat but then I’m comparing them to chord interlinks that cost double the price. Stage and instrument separation are very very good as well.

Sometimes I wonder if they perhaps are bit too hifi sounding compared to musicality like some of the very expensive chord cables.

Price / quality ratio it is an extremely tough to beat cable. They say the XLR is even better which I haven’t tried yet.

Are you talking about the interconnects? With the DSS4.1 speaker cables, I find they’ve completely changed from my first impressions. The prat is more intense than the NAC A5. What I don’t detect is that grainy sound that I found rather endearing in the NAC A5 but that clearly shows these cables are better conductors.

I completely agree with your hifi esq comment which does last a very long time but after months of use this does completely go away and your left with a VERY open and articulate sound with great texture. It could also be that Furutech really suits my tube gear.

Yeah I’m talking about the DAS rca version with NCF connectors. I also have the DPS 4.1 with NCF connectors to my Plixir power supply to which all my gear is connected. It could be that the combination of it all tends to become a bit bright in combination with my active ATC’s. The are all fully broken in now and I agree with the open soundstage but it sometimes can be a tad, and I really mean a tad, too bright and lack a bit of warmth. The extreme openness can also be the experienced as too much on occasions. Some interconnects are a bit less open and have less separation but therefor sound more musical in my opinion and easier to enjoy. On the other hand it also really depends on the music you listen to. On one song it might be too much while on others it is extremely balanced and suitable for the music.

I have them between the 333 and 332.

It’s still early days. The heat wave in the U.K. has meant I leave my tube gear switched off during the day and only on a few cooler nights have I switched everything on to have a listen. Well that and world events which have me depressed so not in the mood to listen.

There is something to report though. With the das4.1 in place between DAC and preamp, the sound knits together very well. Now there is even more detail and vibrancy to the sound. Yet another veil lifted and a more live presentation. I’m still detecting a smidge of that disjointed sound I mentioned. Anybody who has heard Vertere cables and gear will understand the flow and cohesive presentation that it brings. Well I still think the interconnect can do better in this regard BUT I fully expect this to happen when I get more hours on it. How am I sure of this? Well the dps4.1 power cable and dss4.1 speaker cables went through the same transition and now they sound absolutely sublime.

The new Furutech LAN-8 NCF Plus is proving to be a good fit too. They make good products.

21 days in! Hopefully you slowly getting an idea of where they are going to end up?
Looking forward to hear how the burn in is progressing

Also, which cable were you using before?
