Fuse Question…

For me… ‘free’ from my Naim Dealer… :open_mouth:

And my dealer might be that mentioned by @Realitycomputer and by @What_Are_You_To_Me.
I could not possibly confirm this…

But… seriously… do not guess the rating and type of fuse. Check what is written on the back of your Naim unit. That will be correct.

For my NAP250 (CB - 1985), the rating was not what my dealer or Naim support initially thought. But it was what @NeilS said…

Hear hear, also everyone has to make a living and it is a nominal charge as you say. So nominal I cannot believe I am even writing this message about it…

£2.99 + Vat for delivery from CPC Farnell is a bargain compared to their parent company Farnell who charge £9.99 + Vat on orders below £40 exc Vat.

Perhaps we need to get an upto schedule of fuses from naim @NeilS ? and publish as a sticky ?

One of the biggest users of fuses the xps-dr is missing from this list as is the cd555psu.

Also, a word of warning to read the schedule correctly ! The 115V versions look to be the same fuses as the 230V versions, just half the rated current ( but still marked as 230V rather than 115V).

The ones that I have ordered are ‘time-lag’, is that the same as ‘slow-blow’…?

They are the same thing.

The safest thing to do is to check the fuse rating on the rear panel. This saves any confusion with different brand transformers used over the years - as you found with your own 250.

Regards
Neil.

…but do be sure you select the correct fuse for the applicable mains voltage, as they are different depending upon whether the unit is for 115V or 230V.

@Thegreatroberto - the Fuses Lists that I posted came from Naim Audio, via @Cymbiosis, in April 2024.

My 1985 NAP250 is marked (on the rear panel) as - 240V 4A anti-surge.

But… this does not mean all 250’s use this fuse - they do not…

As @NeilS says - check yours…

I just checked my 250, and it uses a 5A fuse. I think Neil was referring to my late olive 250 being different from previous 250s because it had a 600VA transformer.

So… yours is correct vs the Naim Olive listing.

Mine predates that. Believe there was a transformer change around the time the 135’s first came out (so 1984 *), from 400VA to 500VA…? Mine is one of those.

*Think this diagram is new - https://media.focal-naim.com/naim/file_manager_files/pages/legal/product-history/v2/naim-product-history-power-amps.pdf - ?/

Nice… Better… More Naim… :grinning:

(quite a few other items, such as NAC’s & Tuners, are now similar, but not all… yet…?)

PS. Good to see a bit of the old Naim humour in this diagram…
