That is so cute.
A good haul from my allotment. We planted a fig tree a few years back and this is the first proper crop - amazing figs
Back in the day they came with butterflies.
Our runner beans are tiny currently, probably planted them out too late.
Cherry tomatoes ripening much quicker than the Moneymaker ones and I accidentally snipped off the bottom truss of one with several green tomatoes when trying to release a couple of ripened ones.
Small cucumbers not doing too badly apart from the powdery mildew.
We have a fig tree (gifted by a previous neighbour who had many) in a large pot but it’s never developed figs.
Bought an aubergine plant and am looking forward to see how well that grows - loads of nice purple flowers and a few aubergines already developing.
Lots of bees have appeared recently particularly on my flowering potted mint.
Have a few 'cabbage whites’ and brown ones I’ve not noticed previously, probably ’Speckled Wood’:
Bees:
Gatekeeper maybe?
Small moth or butterfly on mint (mint moth?):
Hover fly:
Your figs look green. I thought they need to be purple color for eating? Mother in law has plenty of figs on her tree but they never get to the purple stage.
First flowers on the lipstick plant aeschynanthus Rasta. Got curly leaves in’it.
A small part of the indoor garden. About 50 specimens now.
These are a different variety - ‘honey fig’. They stay green but are very sweet - absolutely delicious
I think that emoji was designed by a schoolboy
Swap u lots of bloody cucumbers for one😂
Garden produce and foraging taken today
The jelly was made last week and is mainly bramble and apple.
I prefer windfalls for this, but there haven’t been many so far , so I used Granny Smiths
Is it gardening?
Anyhow, my wife bought this swimming pool. I expected it wasn’t going to be used, but the younger 2 jump often in it.
We lived in America……a couple of decades ago. My wife bought one to bring back……it was too cold even in the hottest summer.
Perhaps we would like it now👍
Following an rta some years ago I had to have physical therapy so invested in a 32 foot long similar pool in the garden on the Sussex coast. I managed to impress the neighbours by being in it every day from March to mid November for almost two years. (I was younger then). I wouldn’t recommend it as a leisure pursuit but it was easily doable as part of the recovery routine. The other months I used an indoor pool locally.
I am talking 20 years ago……just too cold, we did not think the placement properly. Did not work then.
A post-gardening photo really.
Harvested my first (outdoor) tomatoes of the year today after a very slow start. Now have an increasing glut of cherry varieties so I slow-roasted them for hours with garlic and basil.
Combined at the end with some feta and parmesan – and a good glug of local rapeseed oil. Served with sourdough. Only wish more had ripened.
Hardly the most cost-effective way of eating, but you can’t beat your own toms.
Oh, it was cold. 2001 to 2006 I kept it but after those first two years it got used less. The secret was to get in and keep moving after the first shock. Out and back indoors for a warm shower. More than once I broke the ice to keep the therapy going. Sand filter and chlorine generator with rock salt kept it clear.
I have to say swimming pools and the UK aren’t usually two (or 3 if you’re going to be picky) words I’d put in the same sentence.
