So many uses for photography gear😁

Didn’t realise that autumn flowering crocus aren’t the same family as spring flowering ones. They’re actually from the lily family and poisonous to pets.

Keeping this for all the insects and birds:

My plan is to prune it in Feb/mar so that we have a good winter green part in the garden.

First time out of the box.

Absolute pleasure to use, certainly compared to the cheap old pairs that I have. As they say you get what you pay for!

Not the Amarylis I recall from Christmas past.

8 days ago it was a few green shoots about 4-5 inches tall.

Class. The camellia oil is recommended after every use to protect against any rust and even a little bit during heavy use will help avoid any sap build-up. (if you haven’t already)

Congratulations on your new secateurs. The advice from @Count.d is excellent but I would also like to recommend that you purchase a Crean Mate for removing unwanted rust and sap

I don’t use that, as it’s a bit abrasive and will probably scratch the beautiful polished finish. Nothing to worry about after a few years of use, but on shiny new secateurs it would make me cry😂

A leather strop combined with a thin layer of cutting compound can be used to restore the polish and shine. This works very well

Yes @Count.d and @anon23112058 I got Crean mate, camellia oil and sharpening stone and thanks for all the advise, they are rather lovely and deserved to be looked after.

I don’t know why the pic is oriented and cropped like that, it was the same with another recent post I made on here. I haven’t changed anything other than adding a new magic keyboard and transferred a load of pics. Oh and IOS 15

According to @Richard.Dane it is an iOS issue. Are you using Apple? There is a workaround that requires cropping the image and then saving it out again :relaxed:

Maybe Salvia Amistad. Our’s were very late this year and are now in flower. The photo doesn’t really capture the intense violet. In previous years it produced many flower spikes which suffer in the high winds of Autumn. I converted a broken off bit into a cutting and now have two.

Acer palmatum looking very colourful at this time of year. Missed the photo timing, as a lot of leaves fell off overnight and it looked better yesterday.

A neighbour gave me a packet of pumpkin seeds at Christmas - I kept 2 plants and gave the rest away. Just bunged the plants into the compost heap, left them to their own devices and this was the result.

Eurybia (aster) div.

I love this old gal. When everything else is ready to give up for six months she bustles in and gives a nice old fashioned display.
A favourite of Gertrude Jekyl.

Coleus Forest Flame (not the best of naming)
Has done fabulously well this summer but is tired and ready for recycling. The tulips need to go in the pot
