Just had notification from my gas and electricity provider So Energy that my one year fixed deal is coming to an end and would I like to renew.
All I can say is wow the prices being quoted for a fixed 1 or 2 year deal are astronomical compared to what I was paying with a rise of nearly £50 a month on the cheapest option, a quick check on U Switch and their cheapest fixed deal supplier was even more expensive, ironically So Energy’s variable rate option comes in at £111 per month which is still £15 a month more than I was paying but on a pure cost basis looks like the way to go and I’ll take my chances with future price rises.
Variable rate might be the safe bet. Gasprices typically follow Oilprices and it seems to go down at the moment.
