Mary McCaslin - Things We Said Today https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJW69RFXTgY
Ricky Lee Jones - For No One For No One

Both excellent renditions.

The Strolling Bones - I Wanna Be Your Man.

The Stones’ second single, transforming Ringo’s rather tame version into something completely different.

Golden Slumbers covered by Dua Lipa on her Acoustic EP. It makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand.

I never liked Joe Cocker’s version of Help, but I did like Deep Purple’s., on their first album Shades of Deep Purple. Deep Purple also did what, to my ears, was a good rendition of We can work it out on their second album, The Book of Taliesyn.

Other covers that I thought added something are Marmalade’s Obla Di, and possibly Siouxie & the Banshees’ Dear Prudence

I couldn’t find it on YouTube, you may be luckier. Ben Sidran does a fantastic version of Come Together on the album Live from Montreux.

Here’s another great version:

This is quite good by Emmanuel Santarromana

and a whole album worth too! (couple of quid pre-owned via Amazon)

Musica Nuda - Blackbird

Musica Nuda - Eleanor Rigby

At the risk of reopening a discussion that ran its course a few months ago, Michael Jackson did a great version of Come Together.

In a very different style, Brad Mehldau gets some lovely ideas out of Blackbird.

Billy Bragg’s version of She’s Leaving Home is superb. It really brings out the sadness of the song in a way that the original perhaps doesn’t.
