Great system show!

Visited my favourite dealer yesterday to hear a system built around the NC 200 Series, 222, 300, 250, and Acoustic Energy’s relatively new Corinium loudspeakers, these being the focus of the day.

And, whilst in no way entry level in cost terms, it was really, and I do mean really very, very good. I’d have thought you’d have go go a lot further up the tree to see a meaningful improvement. The 20-30 or so people there seemed genuinely impressed, although the demographics highlighted some of the issues around the hifi community today……

Just shows what can be done with a bit of thought and effort.

They are a great speaker. For some reason I don’t think AE has the brand pull of other manufacturers. I really like them, out of interest were they in the silver finish?

Silver! Very elegant indeed, on top of sounding terrific.

I have been an admirer of these for some time, order placed and should be with me Friday.

Did you note any of the cables being used?

I too am an admirer of the Coriniums. If I had access to a larger room I would have bought them by now.

I like the wood finish. Not seen the silver; I have seen the green, which are very nice, but I doubt they would get sign off at home. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

However, since I fell in love with the Coriniums last year I have now discovered Oephi and so once I can move to the larger room, it will be a shoot off!

Where was the session? Harlow way?

Best, Tony

That is great, can’t wait for the initial report, and pics!!

Did you go for the silver?

“Demographics… hifi community…”

I’d be interested in what you mean by that.

Retired - the physical weight of the speakers was definitely a factor for some….. myself.

I have the Oephi Lounge 2 at home for a few days from tomorrow.

I think I’m gonna probably get them :slightly_smiling_face:

Fingers crossed.

Keep us updated. Similar system Similar thoughts re speaker change. Just trying to sort a dealer visit as none local for Oephi

Hi @alg777,

I quickly set the speakers up on their stands on Friday evening (without spikes) and I was a bit disappointed, bloated bass, slightly vague vocals.

Only had about an hour with them for family reasons.

Saturday I set them up properly, on spikes, levelled, 30cm out from the wall, accurate spacing etc., and they came to life.

They got better and better throughout the day and they are now singing beautifully. Vocals in particular are stunning, you just forget about the speakers and listen to the music, it’s like Shelby Lynne is in the room, singing just for you (sorry if that’s a cliche).

Bass is still definitely there (much more so than the Iotas) but now much more controlled and realistic.

I have some garden jobs to do this morning, that lawn’s not going to mow itself, as my wife likes to remind me, but I will get a few hours in today, and will probably make a decision then I think.

They are bigger than I remember, mainly deeper, and I am not sure about the Norstone stands they came with (I don’t like the look of those tripods, but I suspect they are best).

They are also very light for their size at 6.5kg each.

But I do love them and I’ll probably buy them.

Will let you know.
Tony

Let me know. I guess moving to a smaller room and NSS 333 will take time for me to consider moving on from QM10 as they have just performed so well with a little (whist family out, lawns mowed) classic rock. Bass was my concern but no slouch today but then I am taking more care on which album version I stream. There are a lot of moving pieces in this game.

Never the less I think my recent audition of P8 vs P10 ND9 may influence my next move.

Hi @alg777,

I’ve decided to buy them.

I’m a terrible procrastinator, but these are everything I want, so why continue tilting at windmills - we’ve arrived.

I hope you get to hear them, whichever model you’re after. Let us know how you get on and if you can find a dealer near enough.
