The Bluesound Node, Node Nano and Node Icon are basically functionally the same. The Node Icon has a screen, but you really do n’t need that. I have a Node (not used anymore) and a Node Icon (used in my office system). The Node Icon has better- and dual DAC. If I were you, I would start simple and relatively cheap and first see if you like using a streamer. I do n’t have experience with WiiM Ultra, but that is also mentioned a lot on this forum. A pre-loved ND5XS2 would be great. I love mine.
I think that’s wise. No more updates means there is a good chance that the various streaming services will become unavailable on the device in the future. There are ways round that, but it’s added complications particularly if you’re taking your first steps in streaming.
The obvious choice for me would be an ND5XS2. It’s excellent sonically and would be a nice visual match with an XS3 if you do get one. I certainly wouldn’t let the absence of a screen put you off. Everything you need to use it will be available in the Naim app. Incidentally most of the WiiM streamers don’t have screens either.

Yes you download a zip file, and copy it to the NAS after uncompressing the folder.
