Happy with the new Naim update

Maybe. Mine is a lowly 300 NC (in amplification) lol.
I do think the 500 is very critical to all sorts of things though (why I have avoided).

Would it be mischievous to suggest tuning has been done primarily to suit the newer ranges that Naim need to sell.

Yes it would.

You never know Drago, they maybe saving the 3.8.8 firmware version for the new Naim Statement streamer!

No 300 is far from being …
But you are correct - 500 is critical to all aspects from the outside. Good when you hit the spot (as I had) and bad…
I can also sell all and go full 300… one box less
Not in the mood for that though

Maybe you could find an used ND555 still on 3.8.8 ?

This is ridiculous… but true … but ridiculous

Possibly, I commented previously that the new FWs have elements of the NC sound profile we liked.

I think on our system the nDAC is playing a big part in the overall lovely cohesive SQ we’ve now got.

So we have
A) those who were happy with 3.10.
B) those who were unhappy wirh 3.10 but are now happy with 3.10.1
C) those who didn’t like 3.10 and still don’t like 3.10.1.
How can Naim accomodate all those different views. What a head f…k. :joy:

I one FW the possible can not - despite there is not still something technically wrong, which is pure speculation and no offense.
Only one way … roll … back…

I dont think there’s an answer except if you are not happy is to look at another brand.

Yes but then those who like 3.10 won’t be happy :tipping_hand_man:

R-back for a handpicked group… still dreaming :smirk:
It’s Christmas … maybe Santa naim … sorry-still dreaming

A question for @Simon-in-Suffolk. I’m assuming that any ethernet input to the ND555 will go via the streaming board to the DAC. I guess the first question is, how much influence would the firmware have on the overall sound before it gets to the DAC? Can I assume that going via SPDIF will go directly into the DAC negating any influence from the firmware? I’m just trying to figure out why, during all the changes, music from my Core has remained relatively stable despite it going via ethernet and possibly the streamer board? I seem to remember that when I tested the Core via ethernet vs. Core via SPDIF I marginally preferred ethernet. I’m now wondering, with the firmware changes, if this may also have changed? I’d appreciate your input as I have no idea how the ND555 architecture works.

In golf there’s a terrible situation to find yourself in. And this has probably happened to everyone that has ever the played the game.

Paralysis by analysis.

Is my left elbow tucked in correctly? Should I move my thumb over in my grip? Are my feet spread wide enough? Is my swing too fast, too slow, inside out or outside in?

It’s a miracle that you can even hit the ball with all this going on in your head.

To get out of it, just stand up and hit the ball.

The white paper shows the flows.

Everything goes to DSP pre DAC.

When we tried Core via S/PDIF and ethernet into our setup both routes sounded the same, so now Core is hidden away on Ethernet.

Only because it’s going to take them years and years to replicate the 3:8:8 sound again! :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
