Harbeth Stand Advice

Hi all,

I presently have my SHL-5’s on top of my old Epos stands (that came with my ES-14’s).
I’m considering replacing them with TonTrager stands but have some concerns.
Besides the standard concerns about having nothing to secure the speaker to the stand, or no way to level them besides putting paper under the legs (I’m going to skip the slate/stone for now), I’m concerned with the fact that while the Epos stands bring the tweeters to the recommended ear-height, the TT stands appear to be about 4 inches lower.
The Epos stands are supposed to be good, but perhaps they’re not ideal when using with the larger Harbeths. I use a little BluTack up top and the bottom spikes are sitting on pennies.

I’m wondering if anyone is familiar with these two stands and whether it’s worth it to make the change, and if I’ll need to come up with alternate seating when listening critically?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Worth having a word with Custom Design about your options?

Will do, they did seem to be one of the few top options.
Do they work strictly with metal? I thought I had read that wood was preferred.

Hello Charlie,
I use nano tape between my Ton Trager and Harbeth’s,and under the legs felt tape.

I use the TonTräger stands for my Harbeth 40.3 XD speakers directly on a wood floor and some blutak between the stands and the speakers. I think the stands somehow level themselves to some degree after a while.

I have some lovely Audio Chic wooden stands for my ATCs. Beautifully made and they do custom plinths as well as heights.

Here’s a pic. Not a great close up but you get the idea.
