To be fair, I’m sure that many HD owners/devotees would love it.

Pro-Ject have a long history of producing off “piste” turntables, I would not buy one, but they would not be doing this if they did not sell.
One of the things about turntables is that they should look 
good as well as sounding good, and if Pro- Ject want to sell something like this, they clearly are willing to invest in the requisite tooling up and development costs.
