I am using the digital output of my CD5 XS as an input into a Chord Qutest. I have noticed that when playing HDCD encoded discs that the display does not come up as detecting HDCD. Is this a limitation of bypassing the internal DAC of the CD player?
I’m not sure but it’s the same scenario when you use the CD5 XS as a transport into an NDac

Yes , when you are using the player as transport then it will simply stream what is on the disc.
