his is a bug in the app that naim support are aware of. i was told it would be fixed in a future app revision. note that although the “use” button is greyed out when you have selected the image it does still seem to work if you press on the “use” - well it did for me anyway.
The other issue i have also told naim about is that when i am editing metadata for a track name, the app is saving the track name as both the track name and is also overwriting the album name with the track name!

What were the programmer’s doing that caused them to muck up something that was working fine?
If they caused a bug they ought to fix it right away. What are they waiting for….
I don’t know if I found another bug or not, but I had updated the Title and Artist entries, but when I returned to the app to try the Discogs suggestion, my editing had disappeared, I had to enter the title and artist metadata a second time.
Naim have largely rewritten the code for the Naim app, to bring it all up to date and to get rid of all the complicated workarounds from the past. The current version 7.1 for IOS is still work in progress, so keep looking for updates to the app.
The Core doesn’t auto update, so you are in control of that.
Ah. I started working in Chichester in 1992 and I don’t remember if it was there then. Our first appeared in 1995 so it was a little after that when we started buying toys.
Martlet Toys was in North Street just beyond the Ship Hotel. My parents began the business but sold it around 1987 as a continuing concern with the same name. It carried on for some time but I don’t know when it finished as a toy shop.
I know nothing about new features for the Core. But Naim won’t add internet radio or access to streaming services like Tidal because they say those are for a streamer, not a server.
Let’s start with something simple.
Instead of having multiple entries and photo displays of the same album, when it is a multi disc album.
Let’s have one entry and one photo display for all albums, not just single disc albums.
Just a suggestion
That is certainly interesting! Too bad the timing of your message is off by just a day because yesterday I ripped a CD that had no metadata and I could have tried your suggestion to see if the technique you describe would work for me too,
Looking again in dark mode and under LED lighting I can just about make them out as a slightly darker black than the background, in natural light they were invisible.
Now to find the right mage for this album, and back to dark mode as I much prefer it.
Hopefully this bug will get fixed at some point.
Yes, very much so and It finally explains your problem with cover art at the beginning of this thread when your view of the app turned white on black, rather than black on white. Clearly there has been an error in the software that keeps the word ‘save’ black instead of changing it to white when the background changes.
Thanks David, as part of my recent ripping for friends, I had experienced the absence of “use’ trying to use a photo.
The album that comes to mind, was Aueen in the volumes, where each rip returned meta data differences. Then after editing, only one of the three cds showed anything like an appropriate cover.
With all the, fair to say, enhancements to Tidal and specifically for iRadio much has been achieved. Certainly the Core could do with something of a makeover although a few tweaks which others have highlighted would no doubt be worthwhile.
With iRadio yet to be rolled out to gen 1 streamers, there are other demands requiring earlier attention.
I also had the photocopying problem with iPad. Solution: search for the cover on google or discogs via the naim app, click on the cover photo on the side for longer, then the Copy option pops up, click on this, switch to the naim app, then the Paste? option pops up, click on this. The cover will then appear in the photo window.
Core is a recent arrival here, to eventually replace US SSD.
Sometimes an album cover lookup, when edit is required works at first attempt.
Other times, even for mainstream albums, the cover selection can be a little convoluted.
Perseverance is part of the key.
If at first no success, then exit completely and start again.
Ebay is the most problematic.
It isn’t a simple case of ‘copy’ since at times, for reasons that are not apparent, only a section / portion of the cover pic is highlighted by the copy tool.
Imhe trying all combos eventually gets a pic that will actually “paste”.
Frustrating on an iPad perhaps, but it is equally the pic that is (supposedly) selected that creates the issue, rather than the app.
Room for improvement certainly, but it is not a simple click and paste, often because the pic isn’t always available to be copied and used!
I am happy to say this technique has worked for me also. However, when I switched from DARK MODE to LIGHT MODE I was able to follow the usual method to select a photo from my Photo Library, a much more efficient method.
