Help , Naim XS AV bypass Issue

This seems to be a rare issue. I have a Marantz 1504 AV receiver connected to my XS integrated amp, and to my surprise, sound came from the centre speakers that are directly connected to the AV receiver, and no sound came from the system speakers when in AV mode.
I redid the Marantz room optimization speaker setup which afterwards indicated that the Left and Right speaker was not connected. So did the speaker setup again and the same message was displayed. A manual speaker setup displayed the same message, Although a bit baffled, I think the fault lies with the AV bypass and servicing is required.

Do you hear anything if you set av bypass to off?
Are you using the phono sockets or the din? Have you tried a different interconnect?

RCA cables connect the XS to the AV receiver though I haven’t placed the AV switch in the off position which I understand returns the XS to normal use. On the other side though, there’s no issue when listening to an LP, a cassette or a reel tape

If you play your cassette through the av input and get nothing, then you need to talk to your dealer about a repair.

Well did say on the other side, meaning, when other modes were selected to listen to LPs, cassettes and reel-to-reel tapes, there was no issue as there is when in AV bypass mode.

You need to plug in something else to the av input, as it could be the marantz isn’t outputting a signal.

That’s what came to mind when first encountering the no sound coming from the front speakers that are attached to the XS. Or another integrated amp to the AV receiver.

Whatever you plug into the AV input to test it will need its own level control or you may blow your ears off!

Unless av bypass is switched off.
Best talk to your dealer about a repair assuming you have tested per our suggestions.

I had the same issue with a Marantz AV receiver using the pre-outs didnt work. Did a firmware update on the AVR and that cured it. Easiest way to check is to plug the RCA cable from the AVR into one of the Nait inputs that are known to work (eg CD) - if no sound it is most likely the AVR.

Will give that a try; thanks, mikeyb

I hear ya and the volume is always dialed down to no sound

Naim support was contacted after several attempts to resolve the no-sound issue and taking into consideration members’ suggestions as read. Odly there is sound coming from the left speaker but not the right speaker when the AV bypass mode is selected. So did another AV and speaker setup and optimization calibration. This time the left speaker was detected but not the right followed by a message to check the cable. so will check the cable on the receiver and the XS once again.

No sound when set to off
