HELP required

Hello

I hope all is well

Let me start by saying, im a complete novice

Later last year I decided to start collecting vinyl, so 300+ items later I thought i should buy a TT so a serviced used black ash Lp12 Linn was purchased, followed after Christmas buy a used Supernait 3, followed by the latest new cdsii2 plus a pair of Linn Majic speakers.

Its an expensive game this quality seperates journey having just bought an Ndx 2, should I buy an Xps Dr ?

Firstly its all in boxes I have no idea what unit should be plugged into which other unit ?

I have no idea what cables I require but I keep being told the better ££££ the cables the better the sound ?

Im a bit embarrassed to ask and scared too be honest im going to set it all up wrong buying the wrong cables.

I will being buying a Blok rack system in March

But I was really hoping to take the seperates to a long term audio specialist to show me whats best, I wondered where in the midlands could you recommend, one I dont want to be ripped off buying stuff I dont require, two I will pay for there time showing me how and why and three experienced unbiased products recommend.

I live in Northamptonshire so could you guys n gals offer a specialist to help me set it all up tip top please

Regards Bezza

Did any of the naim components come with their naim cables? If they did follow the Naim instruction manuals to connect the ndx 2 to the sn3 and the sn3 to the speakers. Don’t buy anything else until you have heard that first. Once you have the confidence gained by getting that done, you can then add the cd player and the lp12.

Then you can consider whether you want to add an xps.

Yes, but doesn’t know how to connect it yet. One step at a time, get the simplest working, the streamer.

Apologies, didn’t answer this previously. Obviously you need to get everything connected first and enjoy it, but ultimately the XPS DR gives only a minor improvement, but for a more noticeable improvement the NDX2 really needs a 555DR PS, however your talking circa £4

Sorry I misunderstood the context of your reply

If I understand correctly you have purchased 300 LPs but not played any because you didn’t have any equipment?

Do you have any cables at all?

As someone has already suggested it might be best to start with the streamer as a source. There are diagrams on the Naim website showing connections required for each Naim black box.

It is surely premature to start thinking of buying any more black boxes until you have heard what those you currently own sound like. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Not necessarily so at all. The effect of cables depends on the things they are connecting, and are more about fine tuning akin to tone controls, with many people very happy with inexpensive or relatively inexpensive cables.

Surely, there’s a K missing there! Lol.

Ooops :+1:

Use the original Naim standard (as supplied) cables.
Northamptonshire is close to Leicestershire so the Naim dealer Cymbiosis would be my point of contact, they’re based in Leicestershire.

Before you make any big mistakes I would get the nearest Audio T expert to come over to you & set up what you have because as I can see you have some very expensive items which could be set up great but firstly learn what you are playing with so that you don’t break very fragile parts.:slightly_smiling_face:

The back of my majic 140 speakers has 8 contacts, cables have 2 a red and black

So how do I fix 1 red and 1 black cable to 8 speaker contacts

Did you consider looking in the manual?
