Well; yes it is very annoying when things break, however i still have the lavender as back-up, not that it’s in the same league, i’ve always missed the HiLine when it was sent back to Naim. All the time Naim are happy to have repaired mine FOC it hasn’t been a real issue, more a inconvenience if anything, three years on i’m still happy. Plug-in, play, leave well alone.
Don’t try this with you’re Hi Line
And why do you use a Linn Kandid when you can use a Stanton DJ cartridge that is much more durable and cheaper
Perhaps Naim should employ Father Liam in the QC department
“How much did that stereo set you back Ted”
It sounds much better but would be a different story if it fell apart through no fault of my own.
That’s the difference.
I don’t think anyone is arguing the HiLine sounds excellent, but if it’s off to Naim for another repair it doesn’t sound like anything at all. That’s the problem.
I worry about my DIN4-5. If that breaks I’ll just have to tape it up because I don’t have a spare cable of any kind to use while waiting for a repair.
Well it’s not like Linn Kandid have been trouble free…
Use a Lavender 4-5 din ,many including me prefer it to the Hiline on analogue sources.
Certainly no Kandid problems but I’ve had two faulty Krystal’s and read many stories about Exstatik carts failing.
Not the point anyway I merely commented as others have that the hi line isn’t getting a good press.
Try arguing with them.
I don’t have a lavender 4-5. That was my point.
Better get spares in case all your cables fail.
Can’t loose buying it all twice just in case.
I think it’s shocking these are so poor for the money but get well defended for being good at failing.
Beats me certain products for certain people.
I was voicing support for the dissapointed.
And I haven’t had any problems with my Hilines…
Winner then I was commenting on the build quality.
There seems to be an exchange service for broken ones.
I thought those that bought them got a bum deal with problems.
Unless they’re swinging them round their head Roger Daltrey style.
If you have ND555 it comes with HiLine. Does it come with Lavender? I can’t recall seeing it.
Sounds scary on such brittle plastic. Don’t think I have a backup.
No, just the Hi-line. I already had the Superlumina, so my Hi-line is spare. My lavender went with the NDX2 when I sold it.
No wonder I can’t seems to find it. I must have package it up when I trade in my NDX2 also. So I am left with HiLine. But so far, it is performing well and I have yet to see any problem. I guess just being careful should be okay.
Just picked up a freely repaired Hiline yesterday… It had failed on me after about 12 years of use, I had slightly over strained it. Naim certainly wrap it up very securely when returning it…. Great service… turn around time was about 4 weeks or so.
The alternative phrase ‘done up like a kipper’ springs to mind.
It must be a real headache for naim having to keep on repairing these cables with inherent latent design defect. It’s a pity they weren’t able to reverse engineer into hi-line some of the design development/ lessons learned built into the newer superlumina design.

Possibly, once in 10 to 12 years doesn’t sound too bad though … and it’s certainly great service… that is what you are expect when buying into Naim. Not many will repair free of charge after that time.
