Hi , I have some Hi res files purchased from Qobuz and want to ask if anyone knows the best playback method using Muso 2. By best I mean the playback method that will be most likely to permit these files to sound as they should ie Hi res and better than CD quality.
I favour keeping it simple if possible, so is as good a way as any (or perhaps even the best way) simply to put them on a USB stick , insert in the Muso’s USB port and use the Naim app to select/ control? Obviously the Naim app isnt very pretty but I don’t care too much about that. If possible , I prefer to avoid using an external DAC with an output device such as a Windows PC.
Afraid I’m a bit of a luddite on this stuff, I have a few hires tracks on my NAS and they sound great through my Muso QB2 but I’m sure someone will be along to help you further.
When you have many, many files, finding the track or album you want to play can be problematic. That’s when storing the files on a Network Attached Storage device (NAS) is useful. But good ones aren’t cheap, at least by comparison with the cost of a Muso and you need to purchase and install server software on it. There can be quite a steep learning curve, too.
I’d use the USB option to start with. If your music files get a bit out of hand, that’s when I’d start to explore the NAS option.
Muso2 here which prompts the observation that, as good as the all in one box is, it won’t deliver significant benefits from attempting to play hi-res files versus cd quality. Any spare funds would perhaps be better directed towards s/h Atom or Nova+ speakers. When funds allow, that will be the biggest sound improvement. Look carefully, even with dealers, very good used bargain, including speakers can be found if patient.
