HicapDR to SN3

HI all, 2nd post from a newbie in the last hour…

Ive purchased a 2nd hand Hicap DR to attach to my SN3. I Have teh snaic 5 and snaic 4 cables and from the Naim interconnect instructions I know what connections to make. Question is and its a bit of a newb silly one Im sure… one of the ends on the cables have a band on them and the other doesnt. What end goes to which device?

do the little boxes on the cables shown in the picture from the connection guide signify those bands on the cables…

The boxes in the illustration are the direction bands. The banded end usually goes to end which is the source of the signal.

again silly newb question, when you say “source of the signal” I get it when talking about cd player and TT etc being the source… but when talking about a Hicap and aan amp, what is meant by source and signal?

When you add say a Hicap to a Supernait, you are giving the preamp a dedicated power supply feed. At the same time signal from the preamp is routed back through the power supply (see FAQ if you require an explanation as to why) and in to the power amp section of the Supernait.

Yes I am giving the integrated amp (Supernait3) a dedicated power supply (hicap), OK I think I get it now, hence how the directions are different on each cable. Thanks

And remember if you get it wrong you’ll reverse the direction the earth spins nullifying gravity and causing your HiFi to sound like crap
