HiFi question for Dan, or any other ex 135 owners

I am currently running a classic supercap with an 82 in to a classic 250.
Would a CB Hicap/62/135 pair give me any improvement, or would this be just a sideways move? I really fancy trying the 135’s.

I used my 82 with one hicap, then two hicaps with 250. Then got 135s and Supercap 2 at the same time.

So if you are going 62 with 135s it will be quite different.

At first I could not detect much of a difference between the 250 and 135s. But there is more power on tap and better separation on the 135s.

Of course loosing the Supercap and 82 will downgrade your preamp.

Is there anyway you can keep the 82/ Supercap and get 135s as well?

Thanks Dan. I can keep it all but there is a space requirement to think about. Also the 135 pair ls CB and I’d like to keep it all CB. If I liked it I would then probably let the supercap/82/ 250 go at some point (famous last words). :grinning:
Edit, it would be my cb hicap DR/62/135’s.

It should work very well. The 32.5 HiCap 2 x 135 is a classic set up. 62 should work very well. You may prefer it.

It would be with my Kans. Move my lp12 in there and I’m living an old mans dream.

I think 62/HCDR/135 with Kans would sound stunning, the Kans would love a pair of 135s, wow!

Watch the phase when swapping from a 250 to 2x135. Both 135s will have red/black speaker outputs in the same orientation, unlike the 250. If using Naim plugs at the amp end either swap one over at the speaker end, or invert one of the cables at the amps, or unscrew one Naim plug at the amp end, slide the pins out, twist them through 180deg and reinsert etc.
