Why mention the LP12 rather than a Rega or Vertere or SME or the UKetc?
Do the latest skeletal Rega decks or the Vertere turntables look “vintage” to you? Perhaps they do.
I rather like the look of the wooden plinth LP12 turntables, especially in walnut.

Look there, a easily offended LP12 owner..
Don’t worry about him @frenchrooster they’re like that ![]()
So this goes - why would anyone want that in their living room, it’s better than an LP12, what’s that got to do with it, you’re insecure. I assume, wrongly it seems, that we’re all adults.
Because 80% of members here have it. Each time a deck which is not Rega or Lp12 is posted, the same comments as yours appear.
I would love to have the big Vertere, SG1.
So you lump all LP12 owners together because I think an industrial looking turntable isn’t really the kind of thing folk would want in their living rooms. Then some bloke in Sweden decides to get personal. You guys do make me smile.
I see that you have edited your inappropriate post that I and Rooster responded to, there is hope for you too it seems..![]()
I’ve no idea what you’re talking about tbh.
I’m surprised that it’s a good idea to have the electromagnetic field of the main motor drive right under where the sensitive cartridge tracks.
In most turntables, the drive motor is sensibly as far away from the cartridge as possible.
Best regards, BF
This is true, though I’m not really talking about bare subsistence level poverty.
There are plenty of people in the UK at the lower end of the wealth spectrum that think it would be great to have Range Rover with diamond encrusted headlamps, a LV logo splashed interior, and a dashboard carved from an illegally obtained block of wood excavated from the Mary Celeste. And live in a mansion with a moat filled with sharks with lasers on their heads. And when the win the lottery that’s exactly what they do. Which is in line with their rich neighbour who was born into natural resources or real estate wealth.
@frenchrooster using the search engine of your choice, go looking for the Fremmer youtube video playing this table, its very interesting

This is the sort of thing I wonder about.
Sure there are plenty of people for whom affordability doesn’t even make them blink. But how many of them have lots of records to play on it? And how many of those have the time and opportunity to do so?
Got to be a very niche and very small market.
Only the time in use is important in judging relative value to an individual. Not the size of the collection.
Five hours a day from the same 20 discs is more meaningful than 5hrs a week from 5,000 discs.
It’s probably the same as with super expensive kitchens, hardly anyone cooks there..
A former LP12 owner here.
Sometime people forget a LP12 is likely not a LP12 because it comes in hundreds of variants.
How many actually ?
Bet nobody can give the precise answer.
Estimates is ok, my vote is 333 but its probably a too low figure.
Maybe 450 or 780 ?
