Hijiri Audio Cables

Greetings Forum - Has anyone tried Hijiri cableing systems in their Naim system? Their speaker cables are non LITZ configuration and appear to be compatible with the Supernait 3.
Happy Listening!

The multicored woven/plaited cable construction maximises capacitance & minimises inductance, much like the weave of Kimber.
Naim require a high inductance and the wide spacing web of NACA5 that separates the conductors does just that.
I expect Hijiri is not ideal for Naim amps.

Hello mike-B, Thanks for the information on the Hijiri speaker cables. It appears they aren’t a mechanical match with my Supernait 3. I was lucky enough to audition the Hijiri Million Series interconnects and speaker cables in a non Naim system at Gestalt Audio in Nashville, TN.
In a word, Incredible! The interconnects and Hijiri Nagomi power cords are still on my radar.

Hi mike-B, Colin King also demonstrated Transparent Audio speaker cables that were also quite good. Are Transparent speaker cables compatible with Naim amplification?

Hi @Gracie.1 ….. first, my opinion on the Hijiri cable, because the maker/vendor does not publish any meaningful specification, was based on its visual construction.
The weave/plait or whatever it’s called will always increase capacitance & reduce inductance, exactly the opposite of what is ideal for Naim amps.

Re Transparent Audio speaker cable. The basic looks OK as it’s a simple cable, but again I can’t find any specifications, so I can’t comment.
Pricing of the higher level stuff looks excessive.
Plus like Hijiri I’ve not heard of the brand, and as nothing on this forum, I can’t even give an opinion based on forum experiences.

Which cables are you considering? It’s only with loudspeaker cable that you need to avoid Litz and other woven cable designs. For interconnects they are fine, although I know nothing about Hijiri.

I was considering a full loom of Hijiri’s down market cables. Looks like the speaker cables are not recommended. As for Transparent, they are priced just outside of my comfort zone.
I’m still considering Hijiri interconnects, ($950.00 USD) and power cords for my nDAC and Supernait 3, ($1,550.00 USD) Hijiri - all hand crafted in Japan.
Thanks for the consultation.

Hello, I’m currently using Audio Envy’s SP14 Ribbon Speaker Cables and while they sound amazing, better than the NACA5 I wonder if they are in spec for the Supernait 3. Here are the specifications:
1.6 pf of Capacitance per foot
Introduction. 164 uH per foot
Yours in music!

Yes they do have extremely low inductance and capacitance, but they do need to know how to write the specs.
The inductance number should have a zero before the decimal point …… 0.164uH/ft

Naim amps need a higher inductance than that. 3.5uH is the recommended minimum per side amp to speaker.
OK OK the integrated amps and it seems Supernaits especially are happy with a lot less.
So if they sound OK and the amp runs reasonably cool, go with them.

Hello mike-B, Thanks for the prompt response and clarification. The amps temperature appears to be fine and it also has robust output at low volume. The speakers are 8 ohms and 87db and the amp seems to have pleanty of gusto and good driver control.

Hi mike-B, In addition the cables are made up of four individual separate flat speaker design so they’re not twisted. They are separated leaving an air gap between each cable.

Yes I’ve seen the way they are constructed.
That will always give results in line with their published specs.
As I said, if your SN sounds and performs OK, go with it.
Personally as I understand the need for a series inductance load on the output stage to ensure HF speaker load stability, I would be happier to have a cable that gives that.

Mike-B. In closing, the Supernait 3 sounds great and without any signs of excess thermal buildup. Sonicly it is performaning at peak levels. Thank you for your expertise in this matter. The Naim forum is totally unique from other sites as it’s members are the most knowledgeable and informative not to mention completly positive when addressing all things Naim.

For most modern Naim Supernait amplifiers, Audio Envy’s SP-14s speaker cables should be a safe and sonically compatible choice, it does appear the Supernait 3 is more tolerant of different cables than older Naim power amps, which are very sensitive to speaker cable capacitance and inductance. For your guidance, I have a four meter pair of NACA5 that I have repeatedly tested against the SP-14’s and the AE’s always come out on top.
