Hiss on power-up from cold

The last three times I have powered down the system for a holiday there has been a pretty loud hiss on power up that has lasted something between 3 and 12 hours. I get the feeling it lasts longer the more days it is off and maybe how cold the house has been when away!

I’m not hugely bothered as it works fine once it clears and apart from long breaks the system is on all the time but I wondered if anyone had an idea or thinks I should worry.

You don’t mention which unit, but I recently experienced the same with my Nova. I had never noticed any hiss but after it was off overnight there was a notable hiss that wasn’t there previously. I’ll check the level later as it’s been left on a few days now.

Whole system really, hard for me to decide if it was down to one box. I guess I could switch on power amps first then work backwards to source if I need to

Most odd… your profile page lists DR components. They are too new to have ‘gone off’ yet and requiring service.
Hissing is typically associated with poor earthing or some form of interference. But a ‘disappearing hissing’… that’s a new one…
