How are Naim actually testing their software?

I upgraded the Nova on Friday, since then:
1: system froze and required power cycle
2: system stuck playing radio station, couldn’t change to any other source or station - required reboot to resolve
3: system reloaded by itself
4: multiple times the volume control in the app stopped working
5: doesn’t allow new tracks/album to be added to play queue (from native Qobuz)
6: requires Qobuz username to be entered almost every time I open it

Just about to go and power cycle again as it has locked up again, not allowing me to play anything, wife’s enjoying the silence, but I am appalled by how bad it is.

Other thoughts or experiences?

Regards, Carl

Bad luck. I upgraded the firmware in my Nova and NDX 2 without a hitch. Both work perfectly.
Perhaps your download became corrupted.
I’d download again and then do a mains reset.
I hope that helps. . . .

I upgraded my Nova with new firmware and has been fine apart from having to re- enter Qobuz password every time. I have emailed Naim support and they have replied that they are aware and working on a fix

I also upgraded, no problems. I guess, your network is not stable.
In general power cycle is a good idea. It’s better also to restart the App.
6. is right (during the beta I announced this problem, maybe was a misunderstanding because bad english)

Carl, I suggest you contact Naim support.

Similar problem with Uniti Star. Updated software last week and;

  1. System freezing on radio or music (apart from App) just keeps playing - no remote function.
  2. Have to turn off manually at player.
  3. Power re-set will usually fix it, but not for long.
  4. Have reloaded App, re-set factory settings etc…
  5. Don’t know how to re-download software as Player/App is up to date…
  6. After playing file and turning off/on it can also show new Play Queue option (can’t navigate away from this).
    Contacted support last Friday.

Updated my Uniti Star last week. Since then it has:

  1. Switched off twice while busy listening to analogue input.
  2. Failed to detect a CD requiring a reset.
  3. Started randomly playing a random radio station on coming out of sleep.

Both previous firmware versions I had since I purchased the Star was also buggy.

The Qobuz login issues are being dealt with by Naim.
I have gone through many steps with support and there software team, and they think they have found a solution which will involve an app update.
Hopefully tomorrow I will be trialling a new update to see if it sorts out the login problems.

I’ve just upgraded my Atom and so far no problems.

The update with my nova didn’t go smoothly as well. Tried multiple power cycles, mains power down and 2 factory resets. The sq is nice but the app doesn’t always respond or can’t be found at the rooms page and airplay streaming is not available anymore.

Today all sound coming from the Nova is heavily distorted. Tried power cycles and mains reset to no avail.

Answer I received from support for my update problems was full factory re-set (apologies if this is well known):

  1. Put unit in standby.
  2. Remove speaker and other cables, followed by power cable.
  3. Press and keep holding Play and Input buttons whilst inserting power cable.
  4. Unit shd show coloured screen and white progress bar - then release Play/Input buttons.
  5. It shd reset and go into standby again.
  6. You’ll need to go through the set-up wizard again (needs Ethernet cable).
  7. Return to standby and replace speaker cables, USBs etc.
Seems to have worked for me.
