I am subscribed to 3 services: Tidal, Spotify and Qobuz (all at the highest lossless category).
I started off with Tidal in 2017. I then tried out Qobuz a few months ago, and liked it as well.
I noticed Spotify has music that Tidal and Qobuz do not, so I subscribed to Spotify 2 weeks ago.
These three streaming services are not that expensive IMHO. I no longer buy music, so it is worth it for me.
One….Spotify Family.
All the kids are happy and I get Lossless and some free Audiobooks. About £100 a year cheaper than Individual Spotify plus my old Qobuz plan.
I like the SQ and the UI of Spotify.
0 - tried them all and after a few days realised that my own collection on my NAS is all I need. New artists spring up in unlikely places and a quick 30 second clip helps me decide whether I buy or not.
Qobuz plus Apple Music. I don’t listen to Apple Music but my husband does. He does not listen to Quobuz.
Hmm lets see:
Tidal since 2019, Spotify since 2016 and Apple Music family plan bundled with Apple TV and other services for the Apple ecosystem.
Spotify has from my experience the best algorithm for recommending new music, but I find myself listening to more and more from Apple, and their algorithm is getting better and better in finding new music.
At some point I’ll have to chose one and stick with it.
- Spotify Lossless for my eldest daughter
- Qobuz for me
I currently have:
- Spotify (lossless): For playlists, recommendations, discovery
- Quboz: Playing albums, new releases etc. Buy and download albums. It’s European.
I used to have Tidal, but I stopped that subscription about a year ago. It did not have any added value for me and I got tired of them pushing R&B.
None.
I prefer CDs (got two & a half thousand of ‘em), but I do buy the occasional hi-res download.
None, can’t be bothered, got plenty of music files,
One, Qobuz
Only for new music really and the occasional album I don’t own in the collection from a band I really like.
Used to use it a lot but, now I have all my 1234 CD’s on my ROON Nucleus, I rarely need to.
As per some others, I subscribe to none of the streaming services.
I love listening to my CD library and searching out new CDs to add.
Also I do not like the idea of paying to the streaming services, increasing their profits whilst the artists get very little. Not a good model to allow for creative and quality music to flourish in the longer term - unless you are happy with AI generated sounds ![]()

2 Qobuz for home and ITunes for CarPlay
Spotify family for wife and 2 daughters.
Qobuz for myself.
regards, Piet
Have you tried Spotify for yourself Piet?
I used Tidal for years for music on the move, but Spotify adding lossless made the switch a no brainer as the younger family members prefer that platform. For personal use I am with Roon as I do like the Roon ARC access for locally stored tracks on my NAS
Certainly, but mainly use it on my phone when going for a walk or bike ride.
On the Star I use mainly Qobuz!
Apple Music for CarPlay and when out n about, rest of the time, my music library.
Just Qobuz.
None. To me it feels like I’m renting the music.
